Play-In Games
(7) Hinsdale Central 16 (10) Metea Valley 9
(8) Waubonsie Valley 16 (9) Hinsdale South 8
Cameron Steele racked up 13 goals and Cedrick 10 made 10 saves as the
Warriors used a 7-2 run in the second half to beat Hinsdale South 16-8.
Kay Andressen added 2 goals and Jon McWhirter scored once to round out
the scoring for the winners, who advanced to play Naperville Central on
Thursday. Steele also led the defense with 6 steals while Jared Marrs
and Wyatt Tiscareno each drew a pair of ejections for WVHS.
Thursday, May 14
Quarterfinals
(1) Naperville Central 20 (8) Waubonsie
Valley 7
Phillip Emden recorded 6 goals and Kyle Jackson scored 5 times in the
Redhawks' 20-7 win over WVHS. Christian May and Nick Walker each added 3
goals for the victors. Cameron Steele netted 4 scores and Cedrick Chan
stopped 7 shots and a penalty in the loss for the Warriors. Jon
McWhirter, Kay Andressen and Wyatt Tiscareno rounded out the scoring for
Waubonsie with one goal apiece.
(4) Lockport 9 (5) STC North 3
Ian Greenway, Joey Tomczuk and Zach Elias each scored 2 goals and Pat
Melaniphy stopped 16 shots as the Porters beat STC North 9-3. Angelo
Demarco, Eric Johnson and Steven Howell each added one score in the win
for Lockport. John Pretet scored 2 goals and Chris Stanek added one
score in the loss for the North Stars. Stanek and John Quinn also led
the North defense with 3 steals apiece.
(2) Neuqua Valley 19 (7) Hinsdale Central 6
Simon Shatinsky recorded 6 goals and Scott DePuy scored 5 times in the
Wildcats' 19-6 victory over HC. Brett Whaley and Joey Dalesandro each
netted 2 goals as well for the hosts. Jack Duggan scored 2 times in the
loss for the Red Devils.
(3) Naperville North 16 (6) STC East 8
Drake McClure racked up 7 goals and Cole Jacobs put in 4 goals in the
Huskies' 16-8 win over STC East.
Friday, May 15
Semifinals
(1) Naperville Central 20 (4) Lockport 12
Nick Walker poured in 9 goals and both Christian May and Phillip Emden
scored 4 times as the Redhawks beat Lockport 20-12. Kyle Jackson also
scored 2 goals in the win for Central. Eric Johnson netted 4 goals and
both Joey Tomczuk and Zach Elias scored 3 times in the losing effort.
Pat Melaniphy also stopped 9 shots on the defensive end for the Porters.
(2) Neuqua Valley 10 (3) Naperville North 9
Ian Ivkovich scored the game-winning goal off a rebound from Jack Angus'
shot with :07 left in regulation to send the Wildcats past Naperville
North 10-9 in dramatic finish at the NV Sectional. Scott DePuy totaled 3
goals while Simon Shatinsky, Lucas Becker and Ivkovich each netted 2
scores. Austin Mollway also made 10 saves, Shatinsky made 8 steals and
Joey Dalesandro recorded 5 field blocks. Drake McClure recorded 5 goals
while Spencer Wallace notched 2 scores in the loss for the Huskies.
