Play-In Games
(6) Wheeling 20 (11) Deerfield 6
Nate Reiff totaled 8 goals and 9 assists while Landon Lockwood registered 6
scores as the Wildcats topped Deerfield 20-6. Jake Noel added 3 goals and
Kyle Noel scored once and dished out 7 assists in the win, Scott Stern
tallied 4 scores and Micah Wesselhott netted 2 scores in the losing effort.
(7) Highland Park 9 (10) Buffalo Grove 5
(8) Palatine 14 (9) Vernon Hills 4
Ryan Schlaiss scored 5 goals and drew 5 ejections, TJ May scored 3 goals
and Jake Conrad made 7 saves in the Pirates' 14-4 win over Vernon Hills.
Marcus Carter-Buckman added 2 scores while the trio of Colin White,
Campbell Boston each scored once in the winning effort. Patrick Pranica
led the Cougars with 4 scores in the losing effort.
Thursday, May 14
Quarterfinals
(1) Stevenson 19 (8) Palatine 5
Alex Kapecki and Collin Kapecki both scored 4 goals and Dan Maleski
notched 3 scores to help lead the Patriots past Palatine 19-5. Luke
Gable-Preze and Nick Koto each scored 2 goals while Shaurya Gilani and
Charlie Day combined to stop 13 shots for the victors.
(5) McHenry 6 (4) Libertyville 5
Garrett Floden scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in the last
minute of regulation to send the Warriors past Libertyville 6-5 on
Thursday night. Floden scored 5 times and Jackson Smith tallied the
first goal of the game for the victors.
(2) Mundelein 18 (7) Highland Park 5
Matt Schaedel totaled 5 goals and 5 steals, Eric Nielsen tallied 4 scores,
Mike Ward scored 3 goals and dished out 3 assists and Alfonso Ochoa stopped
9 shots in the Mustangs' 18-5 win over Highland Park. Nick Oleinik also led
the defense with 5 steals in the victory.
(6) Wheeling 12 (3) Lake Forest 10 (OT)
Nate Reiff totaled 7 goals to lead the Wildcats to a dramatic 12-10
overtime win over Lake Forest.
Friday, May 15
Semifinals
(1) Stevenson 18 (5) McHenry 7
Collin Kapecki netted 4 scores, Nick Koto scored 3 times and dished out
3 assists and Dan Maleski added 2 goals as Stevenson emerged with an
18-7 victory over McHenry.
(6) Wheeling 8 (2) Mundelein 7
Nate Reiff scored 4 times to lead the Wildcats past Mundelein 8-7 and
into the sectional finals.
