Monday, May 6
Play-In Games
(8) STC East 10 (9) Hinsdale South 2
The Saints got a bit of revenge by beating Hinsdale South 10-2 when it mattered
most in the sectional play-in game on Monday night, less than two weeks
after losing to the Hornets 11-7. STC East will play Naperville North in the
sectional quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Wednesday, May 8
Quarterfinals
(1) Naperville North 18 (8) STC East 1
The Huskies utilized a balanced attack that saw nine players record goals
in their 18-1 victory over STC North. Dani DiMatteo led the way with 4
goals, while both Taylor Bridgman and Taylor Stoner each put in 3 scores.
Caitlin Holzer and Jillian Eiken both chipped in with 2 goals, and Helen
Wei, Katie Anderson, Kim Lechowicz, and Katie Horn all scored once for the
victors. Sarah Ditch put in one goal in the loss for the Saints.
(5) Neuqua Valley 8 (4) Hinsdale Central 7
The Wildcats built a 4-0 halftime lead
and held on to edge Hinsdale Central 8-7 at their own sectional on Wednesday
night. Morgan Miller scored 3 goals and Brooke Bedford and Deanna Hoff both
netted 2 goals in Neuqua's win. Sarah Pircon scored 4 times and Liza Gross netted 3 goals for the Red
Devils during a furious second half rally that saw them tie the score at 6-6
before the hosts inched ahead to grab a late winner.
(2) Naperville Central 14 (7) Waubonsie
Valley 2
Kristina Altuve scored 4 times and Kaela Codo netted 3 scores as the
Redhawks beat Waubonsie Valley 14-2 on Wednesday. Madison Nervig and
Michelle Spaits combined to make 9 steals to lead a defense that totaled
21 takeaways on the night. Nervig also scored 2 goals in the winning
effort for Central. Molly Devine and Samantha Holzschu each scored once in
the loss for the Warriors.
(3) STC North 11 (6) Metea Valley 4
Nicole Guyett totaled 6 goals and both Maddie Jones and Sarah Stern recorded
2 goals as the North Stars earned an 11-4 victory over Metea Valley on
Wednesday. Hannah Horsfall made 11 saves while Stern and Kelsey Theile led
the defense with a combined 9 steals in the winning effort.
Friday, May 10
Semifinals
(1) Naperville North 8 (5) Neuqua Valley 3
Dani DiMatteo, Jillian
Eiken, and Kim Lechowicz each scored 2 times as Naperville North emerged
from the first semifinal at Neuqua Valley with an 8-3 win over the hosts.
Helen Wei and Katie Horn each added one score in the Huskies' victory. Abbie
Teeling, Brooke Bedford, and Sydney Kalich all scored once in the loss
for the Wildcats.
(2) Naperville Central 10 (3) STC
North 6
Madison Nervig recorded 4 goals,
including the game-winner late in the fourth quarter, as the Redhawks
mounted a late rally to escape an upset bid from STC North to earn an 10-6
win. The North Stars held a 6-4 lead in the final period before Central
put together a dramatic 6-0 run to claim the victory. Kristina Altuve and
Kaela Codo each scored 2 times and Leslie Calabrese and Michelle Spaits
each added key goals during the fourth quarter rally. Maddie Jones and
Sarah Stern both put in 2 goals, Angelica Villa and Katie Quinn each added
one goal, and Hannah Horsfall made 11 saves in the loss for STC North.
