Play-In Games
(8) STC North 9 (8) Hinsdale South 2
Ryan Hamilton tallied 3 scores and Justin Simmonds added 2 goals to lead STC
North past Hinsdale South 9-2 on Tuesday night. John Pretet, Kyle Gannon,
Nick Kowaleski, and Ross Davis each added a goal in the win for the North
Stars, who will take on Naperville North in Thursday's quarterfinals.
(7) STC East 9 (10) Metea Valley 5
The Saints battled their way to a 9-5 victory over Metea Valley in the
preliminary round; they advance to Thursday's quarterfinals to take on
second-seeded Naperville Central.
Thursday, May 9
Quarterfinals
(1) Naperville North 17 (8) STC North 6
The Huskies jumped out to an 8-0 lead after one period en route to a
17-6 victory over STC North. Eric Curia scored 6 goals and Adam Nyland,
Luke Landiak, and Nolan Roberts combined to score 6 goals in the victory
for the sectional's top seed. Kyle Gannon and Nick Kowaleski each
registered 2 goals and both Justin Simmonds and Ryan Hamilton both put in
one score in the loss for the North Stars.
(5) York 14 (4) Neuqua Valley 12 (OT)
Patrick McKenna poured in 8 goals
while Alex Waldherr and Wil Hubert each netted 2 scores as the Dukes
outlasted Neuqua Valley 14-12 in overtime. York outscored the hosts 4-2
during extra time. Alex Thoele registered 4 scores, Will Russell netted 3
goals, and both Joey Delasandro and Simon Shatinsky notched 2 scores in the
losing effort.
(2) Naperville Central 12 (7) STC East 4
Connor Lamb recorded 3 goals and the
trio of Kyle Stablein, Matt Laboe, and Ryan Donahue each scored 2 times as
the Redhawks emerged with a 12-4 win over STC East. Mitch Phelps totaled 3
goals in the loss for the Saints.
(3) Hinsdale Central 15 (6) Waubonsie Valley

Andre Brown and Brogan O'Doherty registered 4 scores and George Koulouris
netted 3 goals as the Red Devils beat Waubonsie Valley 15-11. Mike McWhirter
scored 6 goals in the loss for the Warriors.
Friday, May 10
Semifinals
(1) Naperville North 18 (5) York 9
Eric Curia poured in 9
goals and Nolan Roberts tallied 4 scores as Naperville North cruised to an
18-9 win over York. Luke Landiak also scored 2 goals for the Huskies, who
took control of the game early with an 8-0 lead and never looked back to
move into the sectional finals for a chance to defend their title. Patrick
McKenna totaled 6 goals and Alex Waldherr added 2 scores in the loss for the
Dukes.
(3) Hinsdale Central 10 (2) Naperville
Central 9
Andre Brown and Wade Kinney scored key
late goals as part of a 3-1 run to lift Hinsdale Central past Naperville
Central 10-9 on Friday night. George Koulouris tied the game at 8-8 midway
through the final period and then assisted Kinney on a counterattack goal
that gave the Red Devils a 9-8 lead. Brown scored the eventual game-winner
with under two minutes to play before Connor Lamb's goal cut the lead to
one heading into the final minute. After a stop and a Redhawks' timeout,
the Red Devils' defense forces a turnover to emerge with the narrow win.
Brogan O'Doherty scored 4 goals and Koulouris put in 3 goals in the
Hinsdale Central win. Nick Walker and Ryan Donahue each netted 3 scores in
the loss for Naperville Central.
