SECTIONAL SCHEDULE/RESULTS
Wednesday, May 8
Quarterfinals
(1) New Trier 16 (8) Highland Park 1
Alexana Astor recorded 7 goals as the Trevians began their sectional title defense
with a 16-1 win over Highland Park. Kelsey Willian netted 3 goals and Liz
Joyce put in 2 scores for the victors on Wednesday.
(5) Glenbrook North 5 (4) Maine East 3
Kerry Goodspeed and the GBN defense
helped limit Maine East to just 3 goals as they defeated the Blue Demons for
the second time in five days by a 5-3 margin on Wednesday. Goodspeed totaled
16 blocks while Vladi Milutinovic scored 3 goals and Lindsay Fraser notched
2 scores in the victory. Christina Peter, Medina Husejnovic, and Sandra
Kietlinska each recorded one score in the losing effort for Maine East. The Spartans
advance to face New Trier in the semifinal round, a team they lost to 17-5
last Saturday.
(2) Loyola 18 (7) Maine West 8
Evan Swenson poured in 7 goals and
Marta Considine notched 4 scores in Loyola's 18-8 win over Maine West.
Alison Sajnaj also scored 3 times, Claire Voss put in 2 goals, and Meredith
O'Brien totaled 5 saves and 3 steals for the Ramblers. Carly Romano totaled
6 goals in the loss for the Warriors.
(3) Glenbrook South 9 (6) Prospect 8
Anne Edwards and Jessie Kerndt each scored 3 goals and Maggie Dietrich,
Reba Abu Hashim, and Sarah Grieve each scored once as the Titans emerged
with a 9-8 win over Prospect. Ellie McGough recorded 4 goals and Emily
Rigopolous netted 3 scores in the loss for the Knights.
Friday, May 10
Semifinals
(1) New Trier 11 (5) Glenbrook North 2
Alexana Astor poured in
7 goals, Lindsey Siegel netted 3 scores, and Kelsey Willian chipped in with
one goal in New Trier's 11-2 win over GBN. Lindsay Fraser and Vladi
Mulitinovic each scored once and Kerry Goodspeed blocked 13 shots in the
loss for the Spartans.
(2) Loyola 20 (3) Glenbrook South 9
Marta Considine recorded 8 goals, Evan Swenson scored 5 times, and
Meredith O'Brien saved 13 shots in Loyola's 20-9 triumph over GBS. Emi
Croghan also scored 4 goals and Katie Lynch put in 2 scores in the win for
the Ramblers. Jessie Kerndt notched 4 scores and Anne Edwards tacked on 3
goals in the loss for the Titans.
