The Bulldogs used a mix of youth and experience to pull away from
Westinghouse early on en route to an 18-4 victory over Tuesday. They advance
to take on the defending state champions (Lyons) on Thursday.
Thursday, May 9
Quarterfinals
(1) Fenwick 23 (8) R-B 6
Matt Bresnahan scored 4 goals, Justin White and Ryan Masi notched 3 scores
each, and Mike Hill and Tommy McGuire combined to stop 13 shots in
Fenwick's 23-6 win over Riverside-Brookfield. Filip Wilk, Jack Mahoney,
and Tony Perez also scored 2 goals each for the victors. Dave Kidwell and
Paul Sitkiewicz both scored 2 goals in the loss for the Bulldogs.
(4) Curie 10 (5) St Patrick 4
(2) Lyons 13 (7) Little Village 1
Seven players scored for Lyons as they took care of business in beating
Little Village 13-1 on Thursday to advance to the sectional semifinal round.
(3) Oak Park 11 (6) Morton 5
Chris Brandt totaled 3 goals and Nathan Pimentel scored 2 times as Oak Park
defeated Morton 11-5. Lee Werner, Lawrence Cozzi, Kyle Patnode, Harry
Carpenter, Mark Hallman, and Pavle Siminovic each tallied one score in the
Huskies' win.
Friday, May 10
Semifinals
(1) Fenwick 10 (4) Curie 4
Matt Bresnahan recorded 4 goals to help lead Fenwick past Curie 10-4 on
Friday night. Jeronimo Chavez scored 2 goals in the loss for the Condors.
(2) Lyons 12 (3) Oak Park 9
Peter Dore totaled 7 goals and Joe
Shannon notched 5 scores as Lyons knocked off WSC rival Oak Park 12-9 to
setup a sectional final showdown with top-seeded Fenwick on Saturday. Mark
Hallman netted 5 scores, Lee Werner contributed 3 goals, and Nathan
Pimentel scored once in the loss for OPRF.
