Chris led Fenwick to the Stevenson Tournament title, as he went 4-0 in the net for the Friars. He allowed only four goals to #1 Brother Rice in a 5-4 title game victory on Saturday, plus he held #4 Naperville Central scoreless until the fourth quarter of a 9-2 win. On the first day of the tournament, he let in only three goals in a 17-3 thrashing of Lake Forest, and he held #6 Mundelein to five goals in a 10-5 win.
The Friars claimed their first tournament title of the season at Stevenson and improved to 21-5 on the year.
GIRLS
Lauren Surbaugh (Andrew)
Lauren led Andrew to a 3-0 record this past week, which included two wins over teams the Thunderbolts had lost to earlier in the year. She started the week with a 6-5 victory over Stagg, as she allowed only 5 goals and made 15 saves and 5 steals. She also scored 2 goals from the goalie position in the win to help avenge an earlier loss to Stagg in March. Against Lockport, she made 14 saves in a 10-6 win.
In the final game of the week against Lincoln-Way East, she had 7 saves and 1 steal, plus she scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime after a time-out and a called play for her to shoot with 10 seconds remaining on the clock. This avenged two earlier losses to Lincoln-Way East and helped improve Andrew's record to 12-11 on the season.
