Super Ballers - Week 1 March 14, 2005
BOYS Kevin Bell (Naperville Central)
Kevin led Naperville Central to a 6-0 record in the first week of the season, which included wins over #6 Waubonsie Valley, #12 New Trier, #16 Naperville North, and #19 Neuqua Valley. He scored 3 times and added two assists in Monday night's 11-8 victory over #12 New Trier. He scored 4 quick goals in a 14-0 shutout of St Charles East, then scored 5 of the Redhawks goals in a 10-5 win at York on Wednesday night. Over the weekend, he helped Naperville Central go undefeated at the Neuqua Valley Tournament, scoring 14 goals in three total games. He produced 4 tallies in Friday night's 11-3 victory over Naperville North. On Saturday, he led the Redhawks to a come-from-behind win over #6 Waubonsie Valley, scoring 4 goals to go along with 3 assists. In the nightcap, he scored 6 goals to help Central beat Neuqua Valley 16-9. For the entire week, he totaled 26 goals and 12 assists.
GIRLS Lauren Peterson (Homewood-Flossmoor)
Lauren led #4 Homewood-Flossmoor to a 3-0 record in their opening week, with all three victories coming against Top 25 teams. She started the week off by scoring 6 goals and adding two assists in a 14-6 win over #8 Sandburg. The next night, she scored 6 more goals and added an assist as Flossmoor defeated #11 Oak Park on the road. She closed the week by scoring 2 goals and recording 3 assists as the Vikings knocked off #23 Andrew 10-2. |
