Sandburg is ready for the challenge in the last game of Saturday's schedule
For defending champions Mother McAuley, sectionals are usually a time to get things moving for a run at the state title. This year at the Sandburg, they will need to be at their best if they expect to get past the Eagles in the championship game. McAuley has a strong lineup, with Sandra Perez, Maggie Coghlan, Bianca Cabrera, and Megan O'Connell spearheading the #2 team in the state. Sandburg has a top offensive threat in Beth Haynes, plus the contributions Amanda and Sam Cody, Amanda Schilling, Ami Czerwinski, and goalie Alicia Christensen. Stagg is the likely opponent for Sandburg, so if they can get a win, McAuley would be the likely opponent. The Mighty Macs get the winner of the 4-5 game between Richards and Morton.
