Sandburg Sectional Preview -
BOYS
The Sandburg Sectional has an
abundance of talent and a handful of teams that could make a strong run for
a state tournament berth. Lyons Township is leading the charge, as the Lions
finally earned the #1 seed and have their best chance to advance in recent
years. To do so, they must start things off with an early round game against
#8 seed Curie. The winner will face either #4 seed St Rita, a difficult team
to deal with in the semifinals, or upset-minded #5 seed Stagg. On the other
side of the bracket, things get very interesting, with #2 seed Brother Rice
going up against #7 seed Morgan Park, while host and #3 seed Sandburg takes
on #6 seed Mt Carmel in the first round.
KEYS
- Nemecek: Lions hole set has his sights set on a state berth in 2006
- Busse, Cosentino, Wilkens, etc: Lyons' starting lineup is as dangerous as ever
- Frantz/Coghlan/Moran: Crusaders can't be counted out with this trio
- Christensen: Talented senior
hoping to lead the Eagles to a state berth
- Conrath/Ginger: Tandem makes St Rita a tough team to face in the early
rounds
- Seymour/Stankevicius: Stagg's upset hopes rest on the shoulders of these two
