RIVALRY
WATCH: BOYS
The following matchups showcase some of the most heated rivalries
of the 2014
season:
|
|
MARCH 11
Oak Park at Lyons
The Huskies travel to LaGrange to take on the Lions with the hopes
of shaking things up in the West Suburban Conference in 2014. Lyons
went undefeated in the WSC last season, but they'll have to be at
their best if they want to avoid an early blemish on their record.
MARCH 19 & APRIL 16
Hoffman vs Schaumburg
Endless possibilities exist for both the Hawks and Saxons in 2014;
regardless, they both know they will be in for a dogfight when the
two teams meet in two key MSL West games on March 19 and April 16.
MARCH 19 & APRIL 16
Fremd vs Palatine
The stakes are always high whenever Fremd and Palatine get together
for water polo matches; with both teams seeking a conference title
in 2014...
MARCH 20 & APRIL 16
Prospect vs Wheeling
The two former Co-op teams meet twice in the regular season in
contests that could play a major factor in the MSL East title race
by the time the regular season wraps up.
MARCH 25 & APRIL 29
Curie vs Whitney Young
The Condors knocked off the Dolphins in the CPS title game last
year, so expect Whitney Young to be revved up to prove they can once
again be the biggest threat to Curie's conference title hopes.
MARCH 27
St Charles North
at St Charles East
The North Stars appear ready to make some noise when the postseason
rolls around in 2014; they have to avoid overlooking the revitalized
Saints when the two teams meet for their annual rivalry game in late
March.
APRIL 1 & APRIL 29
Lockport vs Sandburg
The heated rivalry between the Porters and Eagles continues in April
when the SWSC Red teams meet twice for what could be conference
bragging rights when all is said and done.
APRIL 7
Brother Rice at St Patrick
To be honest, I wish I was an alum of either Rice or Pats coming back home
to see these two teams clash every year. The Catholic League teams square
off in early April for a contest that never lacks interest or intensity
and could be a major factor in the Catholic League standings at the end of
the season.
APRIL 8
Stevenson
at Mundelein
The Patriots look ready for another strong postseason run, but they
know better than to overlook nearby Mundelein in a game that might decide
the North Suburban Conference title and could also serve as sectional
final preview when May rolls around.
APRIL 22
New Trier
at
Evanston
Can the Trevians continue their winning streak against Evanston on
the road in a key CSL contest; expect the Wildkits to be clicking on all
cylinders when the teams meet late in the season in a game that could
have major implications on the conference standings when all is said and
done.
