Palatine Sectional Preview
Palatine remains the favorite to emerge from their own sectional, but they will face a stiff challenge from a handful of teams if they hope to get back to the state meet. The Pirates won this sectional last year, beating Fremd in the title game.

Conant is having its' finest season since they added water polo three years ago, and the Cougars have the offensive firepower to challenge to Palatine if they can get to the final game. Brett Krahn has a deadly shot from the outside, while Kurt Zumpf and Paul Christiansen play a major role on the offensive end.

.

Fremd also has to be considered a contender for the sectional title. The Vikings beat Palatine once this year at the Mundelein Tournament and have also knocked off Conant by one goal in their only meeting this year.

Buffalo Grove could have the first crack at top seed Palatine if they can win their opener against Hoffman Estates. The Bison will rely on Willie Rossberger to carry the offensive load.

Barrington, led by goalie Kevin Keyes, could be a thorn in the side of Fremd in the opening round.
