The All-Illpolo Team selections are meant to reward great individual performers for their efforts over the first five weeks of the season. Based on our observations, game reports, scores, coaches recommendations, and word-of-mouth, we are able to come up with a list of 125 boys players and 125 girls players who we feel should be recognized at this point of the season.
A few things to keep in mind:
-If a team played five games or less by the end of Week 4, individual players from those teams are not included in this list, since evaluations are based on performance to this point of the season.
-Individual players who sat out a portion of the first few weeks of games are not included in this list, for the same reasons as mentioned above.
-Any individual not included for the above two reasons can and will be included based on performance on the All-Illpolo Teams at the end of the year if they perform at a high level.
Also:
-Instead of listing the first team, second team, etc. on their own, we combined two teams and listed all of the players on the list by order of their teams' current media poll ranking. We feel the line is less blurry between 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 5th and 6th, etc. than it is by only including 10 players on the first team and so on. Since the teams are based on our opinions and the season is only halfway over, we feel it is better at this point to merge the Top 20 or 25 performers together, the next 25 together, etc.
-Players are, as mentioned above, listed in order of their team's current media poll ranking.
