JASON AMENT
Illpolo.com's All-Illpolo Team

Jason Ament helped Lincoln-Way East win the SICA Conference and qualify for state for the first time in 2005. He was named to the All-Illpolo third team at the end of the season and was also listed as an Illpolo.com Super Baller during the season. We asked Jason the following questions in an exclusive Illpolo.com interview:

College choices, major, current GPA?

I am undecided on which college I am going to attend. I am hoping to go on a polo scholarship and to study law. My current G.P.A is 3.0.

Experience, Club Team, Zone Teams, Off-season work?

During the off-season I play for L.A.W. (Lincoln-Way Area Water Polo) and I also practice with the U.I.C Apostles. I attended Navy water polo camp after my freshman year and sophomore year I went to University of California Santa Barbara with most of my starting line and also some of the Naperville Central team.

When did you start? How? Where?

I started playing water polo my freshman year and had some swimming experience beforehand but did not swim freshman year.

Awards and achievements?

Some of the awards I have received were surprise player of the first quarter, Super Baller Week 4, Midseason All-Illpolo first-second team. I received MVP for the Lockport Tournament and was All-Tourney 2nd Team for the Fenwick Tournament.

Personal interests? Music? TV shows?

I like all types of music ranging from rock to rap; I don't have one type of genre in particular. My favorite movie would have to be either Tommy Boy or Dumb and Dumber.

Goals for the future with polo? School? Life?

My goal for water polo is to play Division 1 in college and hopefully receive a scholarship. I hope to do well in school and become a lawyer.

Motivation, inspiration?

My motivation I would have to say was my first coach Mike Van Eaton he got me started and pushed me to levels I never thought that I could achieve. I give most of the credit to were I am today to him and also to my current coach Tim Daniels.

First Season role?

My first season role was just a JV starter who was brought up to spring break to play varsity.

Soph, Junior Year role?

Sophomore year I was our 7th starter (first off the bench) played varsity and had about 30 goals and 25 assists. Junior year (this Year) I am a driver and starting for the first time in 3 years.

Stats?

My end of the season statistics are 88 Goals, 39 assists, 46 Steals, 31 kickouts drawn, 20 man-up goals.

Other Comments?

I would also like to recognize the other members of the starting line Nate Peyton, Dan Zoellick, Pat McKernin, Louis Wills, Joe Rys, and Ryan Golden/Wyatt Spiese (goalies split games) without the help of my teammates there was no way I could be to were I am today.
