Site Updates

Normally, I launch the new version of the site on February 14. I started uploading the new version with a lot of old information from the 2016 version still built in. It is definitely an ongoing process, but I will be updating the schedules and the new information as soon as possible. Any new updates will be found on the main page or directly on this blog page until Valentine's Day.

Statement #5

I am currently updating the web site as much as possible but I am still uncertain as to whether I will actually be able to run the site this year. I will post a statement asking for some assistance financially in the next week; but my main issue right now is that work responsibilities are not allowing me to continue putting in work for the sport of water polo and running the site with two young children begging for my time is not the greatest of situations with 12+ hour work days. Stay tuned for how you can help...

College Page

The best illustration of my lack of time could be found during the offseason as work did not allow me time to update the Mens' Collegiate Water Polo season like in years' past. I am planning (if time allows) to retroactively give credit to all of the former Illinois players for their accomplishments in 2016. Like I said, time is the issue.

Checking the Schedule

General rule of thumb when looking at the daily schedules...there is always a possibility that a game will begin at least an hour earlier than the listed time. Several teams opt to play Varsity before the F/S game and some teams may not have a F/S team at all. I recommend checking a team's web site since often times the schedule will change throughout the season. I notice this more and more each year that I put the schedules together. I will update the links to each team's online schedule by Opening Night.

Preseason Thoughts

Planning to make a few adjustments to the preseason information in 2017, specifically related to the team previews and player-recognition lists. Hopefully they improve things and get more people recognition for excelling at this great sport.

Rankings News

The preseason rankings have traditionally been posted on President's Day weekend for as long as I can remember. If they are finalized before then, I will post them sooner and light some flares so everyone is notified.

Various lists recognizing as many water polo players as possible will be posted shortly after the rankings are completed.

Preseason Top 40?

Beginning in 2017, I might be switching to a Top 40 for the preseason rankings. This may shift to a Top 50 once the season gets underway. Thoughts?
