Friday, April 8 St Ignatius 7 New Trier 3 New Trier grabbed an early lead on a breakaway goal by Blake Bartter, but Nora Kennely tied the score with a two-meter goal. Allie Hamm put the Trevians back on top wit ha four-meter penalty shot, but Yadi Leon scored from the point to even things up at 2-2. Kennelly scored before the first quarter ended on a backhand, and she made the score 4-2 at halftime with a powerplay goal from the right wing. Kathleen Maloney's third straight steal led to a breakaway goal for Kennelly to increase the advantage for the Wolfpack to 5-2 after three periods. Lauren McGrath assisted Allie Hamm on a goal from the right flat early in the final quarter to cut the advantage to 5-3, but Leon tallied her second goal with 3:20 remaining to put the Wolpack back ahead by three. Maisie O'Malley scored on a breakaway after a long pass from Hybinette to seal the win for St Ignatius 7-3. Kennelly led Ignatius with four goals, Leon had two goals and two assists, and O'Malley scored one goal in the win. Hamm scored twice and Bartter added one goal, while Andrea Jilling and McGrath had one assist apiece for New Trier. Lyons 6 Loyola 3 Laura Ansilio scored from the point early for the Lions, and Jenna Tschaikovsky added a powerplay goal moments later to give Lyons a 2-0 lead. Shaw scored an open shot from two meters to cut the lead in half at the start of the the second period, but Megan Kono knocked a shot in with her head to put the Lions back up by two. Ansilio powerplay goal in transition with 0:11 seconds left in the half. Ansilio scored from the left wing early in the third period to make it 5-1, but Shaw countered with a goal towards the end of the third to chip the lead down to 5-2. Kristina Pilolli had a powerplay shot deflected in with 3:15 remaining, as the Ramblers got back to within two goals of the lead. But Tschaikovsky had the answer with a powerplay goal from Ansilio, and goalie Hollis Woodlock made a powerplay save to keep the Lions' lead safe. Waubonsie Valley 4 Naperville North 1 Bailey Gucinski scored two goals and Amanda Keating and Lori Roskens each scored once as Waubonsie Valley held Naperville North to just one goal in a 4-1 win. Roskens scored the first goal of the game for the Warriors, but Sarah Fitch found Brandie Savino open on the right wing to tie the score at 1-1. Lisa Rudolph assisted Gucinski with the go-ahead goal with a pass from the right to left wing, and Waubonie never relinquished the lead. Gucinski scored from the point in the second half to make it 3-1, and Keating added a late goal to finish the scoring for the Warriors. Homewood-Flossmoor 12 Marian Catholic 4 Homewood-Flossmoor jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first quarter en route to a 12-4 victory in the final game of the night. Kelsey Christensen scored four goals and Amy Thatcher and Lauren Peterson each tallied three scores in the win. Sam Baffes also scored the opening goal of the game for the Vikings, while Amanda Owen scored their final goal of the game. Bridget Maul scored four in the loss for Marian Catholic.
Saturday, April 9 New Trier 5 Waubonsie Valley 4 (Shootout) Allie Hamm scored with two minutes left to play to give New Trier a 4-3 lead, but Bailey Gucinski tied the score on a powerplay to send the game to a shootout. Kat Jackson scored the deciding goal in the shootout as New Trier emerged with a 5-4 victory. Blake Bartter and Hamm each scored twice for the Trevains, while Jackson got credit for the final shootout goal. Lisa Rudolph, Ashley Fisher, and Lori Roskens all tallied one goal in the loss for the Warriors. Flossmoor 10 Loyola 4 Lauren Peterson goal on powerplay. Amy Thatcher goal on counterattack. Thatcher powerplay goal. Peterson two meter goal. Colleen Shaw two meter goal. Christensen and Thatcher add goals to put the Vikings ahead 6-1. Megan Douaire and Allison Samluck score for Loyola to cut the advantage to 6-3. Peterson two meter goal for HF. Douaire counters with a goal for the Ramblers. Christensen and Sam Baffes both add goals early in the second half to make the score 9-4. Thatcher finished the scoring with a fourth quarter goal and a 10-4 win over Loyola. Thatcher led Flossmoor with four goals and Peterson tallied three scores. Christensen also scored twice and Baffes added one goal in the win. Douaire scored twice and Samluck and Shaw scored one goal apiece for Loyola. St Ignatius 4 Naperville North 1 Nora Kennelly scored twice in the first half and added a fourth quarter goal to help St Ignatius get past Naperville North 4-1. Michael Donnelly added a breakaway goal for the Wolfpack off a pass from Kennelly, while the Huskies' Sara Lackos added a goal in the loss. Lyons 13 Marian Catholic 1 Lyons jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in a 13-1 win. Becca Busse led the Lions with four goals, Aida Zygas added three, and Kelly Burke scored two. Laura Ansilio and Megan Kono also notched goals in the win. Shannon Kean scored the lone goal for the Spartans in the loss. New Trier 7 Naperville North 2 New Trier led from start to finish in a 7-2 victory over Naperville North, as the Trevians advanced to the third place game. Allie Hamm scored the first goal of the game and had three total goals in the win. Mandy Ferguson also scored three goals for New Trier, while Katherine Bartels added one goal. Sarah Fitch scored both goals for the Huskies in the loss. Flossmoor 11 Lyons 3 Amy Thatcher scored on a powerplay in the opening period, then added a breakaway goal early in the second quarter to make the score 2-0. Kelsey Christensen scored from two meters to put Flossmoor ahead 3-0, and Thatcher recorded a hat trick with a counterattack goal later in the quarter. Lauren Peterson scored a two-meter goal to give Flossmoor a 5-0 advantage before Sarah Trilla ended the drought for the Lions with a breakaway goal to make the score 5-1 at halftime. Baffes and Ashley Anderson added goals in the third quarter, and Thatcher scored her fourth goal to make the score 8-1 heading into the fourth quarter. In the final period, Alyssa Guynn scored for Lyons, but Meghan Davidson followed with a goal to make it 9-2. Julie Carlisle scored to make it 10-2, Ansilio scored for Lyons, and Amanda Housing scored to make the final score 11-3. St Ignatius 8 Waubonsie Valley 6 Nora Kennelly scored six goals and Yadi Leon added two as St Ignatius held off Waubonsie Valley 8-6 to advance to the title game. The Warriors led 6-4 late in the third quarter, but the Wolfpack scored the last four goals of the game to get the win. Lisa Rudolph and Bailey Gucinski score two goals apiece for Waubonsie Valley, while Lori Roskens and Amy Schumacher scored once in the loss. Loyola 9 Marian Catholic 6 Loyola outscored Marian 6-1 in the opening quarter en route to a 9-6 win in the final game of the preliminary round of the tournament. Allison Samluck and Colleen Shaw scored twice in the win, while Meghan Dembski, Kristen Pilolli, Emily Harig, Jackie Sershon, and Megan Douaire all added one goal for the Ramblers. Bridget Maul, Megan McDonnell, and Shannon Kean all had two goals for Marian Catholic. Naperville North 6 Marian Catholic 4 The Huskies got their first win of the tournament, as they led from start to finish in a 6-4 victory over Marian Catholic. Brandie Savino and Sarah Fitch scored in the second quarter to put Naperville North ahead 2-0 at halftime, and both girls scored again in the second half as well. Sara Lackos and Colleen Carlsen also scored once for the Huskies. Bridget Maul led Marian Catholic with two goals, while Megan McDonell and Julie Jacobsma each added one goal. Waubonsie Valley 12 Loyola 7 The Warriors finished in fifth place with a 12-7 win over Loyola. Bailey Gucinski scored three goals, while Lisa Rudolph, Ashley Fisher, and Lori Roskens scored two goals apiece. Amy Schumacher and Lucy Tiffin both tallied one goal in the win. Kristina Pilolli, Jackie Sershon, and Colleen Shaw all scored twice, while Annie McNair added one score for Loyola. Lyons 8 New Trier 5 Lyons ended the tournament with a 8-5 win over New Trier for a third place tournament finish. Laura Ansilio led the way for the Lions with three goals, while Jenna Tschaikovsky, Kelly Burke, Aida Zygas, Megan Kono, and Elizabeth Ligurotis all scored once for Lyons. Claire Plante scored twice for the Travians, while Allie Hamm, Lauren McGrath, and Moira Fisher all scored one goal for New Trier. Flossmoor 6 St Ignatius 5 (Championship game) |
