Play-In Game

Wednesday, May 7

Quarterfinals

(1) Sandburg 18 (9) Bradley 4

Max Kryzminski scored 5 goals and Cody Siemeck (5 goals) tallied his 100th goal of the season as Sandburg upended Bradley 18-4 at the H-F Sectional. Robert Pozdol recorded 13 saves in the win for the Eagles.

(4) Lockport 8 (5) LWC 4

Pat Cavanaugh and Ryan Oldendorf each scored 3 goals to lead Lockport to an 8-4 victory over Lincoln-Way Central on Wednesday. The Knights took an early 1-0 lead, but the Porters rattled off six straight goals before halftime to take a 6-1 lead. LWC cut the lead to 6-3 at the end of the third quarter, but Oldendorf scored two straight goals to seal the victory for the Porters. Ben Bentley added 3 assists and Larry Formosa and Bob Chavez combined to make 10 saves in the win for Lockport.

(2) LWE 20 (7) Andrew 9

Karl Zoellick scored 7 times to lead Lincoln-Way East to a 20-9 victory over Andrew.

(3) H-F 12 (6) Stagg 7

Friday, May 9

Semifinals

(1) Sandburg 9 (4) Lockport 3

Sandburg outscored Lockport 6-1 in the second half to beat Lockport 9-3 and advance to the sectional finals on Friday night. Max Kryzminski and Cody Siemeck each scored 4 goals and goalie Robert Pozdol recorded 15 saves in the win for the Eagles. Ryan Oldendorf recorded 2 goals in the loss for the Porters.

(3) H-F 8 (2) LWE 5

Homewood-Flossmoor jumped out to a 4-1 halftime lead en route to an 8-5 victory over Lincoln-Way East. Greg Nelson led the way for the Vikings with 3 goals in the win. Zach VanSwol and Kyle DeGroot each scored 2 goals in the loss for the Griffins.

Saturday, May 10

Finals

(1) Sandburg 8 (3) H-F 7

Sandburg scored with nine seconds remaining to beat H-F 8-7 and advance to the state tournament. Joe Kamper and Cody Siemeck each scored 3 goals in the win for the Eagles, who trailed 3-2 at halftime. Greg Nelson recorded 3 scores in the loss for the Vikings.
