Play-In Games
Hoffman 5 Meadows 4
Stephanie Lynn's fourth-quarter goal proved to be the difference-maker as
Hoffman staved off a late challenge from Meadows to earn a 5-4 home
victory on Tuesday night. The Hawks led 4-1 after Sharon Sturnfield's goal
in the third period, but the Mustangs outscored the hosts 3-1 in the final
seven minutes to make things close. Hoffman advanced to play top-seeded
Fremd on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
Thursday, May 10
Quarterfinals
Fremd 20 Hoffman 4
Lauren Zambelli scored 5 goals and Sam Matuszewski added 3 scores as
Fremd shutout Hoffman in the first half en route to a 20-4 victory
on Thursday. Amy McEllen, Breanna Anderson, and Emily McCarthy each
added 2 scores in the Vikings' win. Faith Sheely, Kasia Serwin,
Sharon Sturnfield, and Stephanie Lynn each scored once in the loss
for the Hawks.
Conant 6 Hersey 5
Jessica Southern recorded 5 goals as the Cougars survived a late surge to
beat Hersey 6-5. Conant led 6-3 entering the final period before the Huskies
scored two straight goals, but it was not enough to stop the Cougars from
advancing to the semifinal round. Jessica Davis made 25 saves for the
victors. The Huskies were led by Karolina
Szymaszek's 2 goals.
Barrington
12 St Viator 5
Kate Luedtke tallied 4 goals
and Grace Buenrostro and Lisa Danhauer each netted 2 goals as Barrington
defeated St Viator 12-5. Eileen Mallof recorded 2 goals in the loss for the
Lions.
Schaumburg 8 Elk Grove 4
Kristy Bessler totaled 4 goals and Jessica Sumsky blocked 10 shots as the
Saxons earned an 8-4 victory over Elk Grove. Rachel Fish added 2 scores and
Ashley Johnson led the way on the defensive end with 4 steals, as SHS held
their opponents scoreless in the final quarter. Alexa Zajac and Kathryn
Noonan both scored 2 goals and Leah Rivard made 18 saves in the loss for the
Grenadiers.
Friday, May 11
Semifinals
Fremd 15 Conant 5
Lauren Zambelli recorded 5 goals, Sam Matuszewski scored 4 times, and Sam
del Prado netted 2 goals as Fremd earned a 15-5 victory over Conant on
Friday. Julie Conrath also saved 15 shots in the Vikings win. Kristi Burke
tallied 2 goals and Jessica Davis blocked 13 shots in the losing effort
for the Cougars.
Barrington 12 Schaumburg 7
Kate Luedtke registered 5
scores and Lisa Danhauer added 4 goals as the Fillies downed Schaumburg
12-7. Kristy Bessler scored 4 times and Rachel Fish added 2 goals in the
Saxons' loss.
Saturday, May 12
Finals

Barrington 3
Lauren Zambelli registered 3 goals and Sam del Prado totaled 2 scores, 4
assists, and drew 4 ejections as Fremd toppled Barrington 11-3 to win the
Schaumburg Sectional. Julie Conrath also made 18 saves in the Vikings' win.
Lisa Danhauer recorded 2 goals and Brooke Fanslow made 14 saves in the loss
for the Fillies.
