MARCH 12
#24 Palatine at #18 Fremd
#21 Conant at #40 Barrington
#32 Schaumburg at #22 Hoffman
The six teams in the Mid-Suburban League West are quite
evenly-matched in 2013, so the first three conference battles on
March 12 could give us a better idea of the pecking order in the
race for the overall conference title and a potential state berth
later this season.
MARCH 18
#6 Brother Rice at #2
Fenwick
The rivalry continues
for the Crusaders and Friars when they meet in Oak Park on March 18
for a game that always has major implications on the Catholic League
title race.
MARCH 21
#4 New Trier at #19 Maine South
The Hawks' only blemish on their conference mark last season came
against New Trier, who rolled through the Central Suburban League
with a perfect record. This clash could once again determine the
regular season title winner in 2013.
MARCH 28 & APRIL 25
#8 Lockport at #9 H-F
The Porters got past the Vikings in last year's Lincoln-Way
Sectional final, so this set of rematches should give us a better
idea of who has the upper-hand in the chase for a state tournament
berth. The Porters finished one game ahead of H-F in the SouthWest
Suburban Blue division last season, so these games will also be a
major factor in deciding the divisional race. The Vikings play the
first game at home and then travel to Lockport in the latter stages
of April.
APRIL 3
#4 New Trier at #14 Loyola
The rivalry between the Ramblers and Trevians is always heated, but
this one looks like it could also provide a preview of the Glenbrook Sectional
final when May rolls around.
APRIL 4
#12 NC at #3 NN
The Huskies enter the season as the early favorites to rule the
Naperville area, but this test with Naperville Central could be a
barometer of how they will fare at sectionals against a Redhawks'
team hoping to return to prominence.
APRIL 4 & MAY 3
#5 Sandburg vs #9 H-F
The rivalry between the Eagles and Vikings continues in a two key games
that could help determine the SouthWest Suburban Blue conference
title. H-F heads to Orland Park in early April, while the Vikings
host Sandburg in early May.
APRIL 9
#7 Stevenson at #20 Lake Forest
The Scouts are on the rise, so they could be looking at this match
with Stevenson as their best chance to make some noise in the North
Suburban Conference.
APRIL 17
#15 St Ignatius at #16 Latin
The Wolfpack and Romans have duked it out for a state tournament
berth for the past few years at the UIC Sectional, so this midseason
battle could be a preview of how things will go when a state bid is
on the line in early May.
APRIL 22
#11 Oak Park at #13 Hinsdale Central
Last year's tilt, which Hinsdale Central won, determined which team
got an opening-round bye in the West Suburban Conference Tournament.
The same could happen this season, with both teams hoping to be in
the Top 10 by the time this April 22 fixture comes around.
APRIL 23
#1 Lyons at #3 Naperville North
A rematch
of last year's state quarterfinal game pits two of the top teams in
the state against each other just a few weeks before the state
tournament.
