In a rare 10:00am weekday game, Sandburg defeated Stagg 12-3 behind a solid
defensive effort that held Stagg scoreless for the entire first half. Amanda
Cody scored Sandburg's first goal eleven seconds into the game, and Sandburg
never looked back in the win over the Chargers.
The Eagles rushed out to a 7-0 halftime lead en route to the victory. Stagg scored three quick goals in the third period to cut the lead to 11-3, but Hannah Ciurej scored her second goal of the game in the fourth quarter, while goalie Mary Cusack held Stagg scoreless for the last seven minutes of the game to help the Eagles improve to 10-1 on the year.
Nicole Srutowski scored four goals for Sandburg, while Cody recorded three scores and five assists. Ciurej scored twice, Ami Czerwinski also chipped in with two goals and Michelle Mulhall scored once in the win. Mary Galis, Kristen Rutkowski, and Karina Kennedy each tallied one goal for the Chargers.
The Eagles look to improve to 11-1 when they play host to Bradley on Wednesday night, while Stagg looks to bounce back from the loss at home against Lockport on Thursday evening.
