ERIN BICKUS
Illpolo.com's All-Illpolo Team
Erin Bickus has helped Conant
on both the offensive and defensive ends since the program began at the
school in 2002. She was named to the
All-Illpolo team earlier this season, earned All-Sectional team honors,
and was also selected to the MSL's All-Conference team in 2005. We asked
Erin the following
questions in an exclusive Illpolo.com interview:
College choices, major, current GPA?
I'm going to attend Illinois State University and i plan on joining the
Water polo team there as well as possibly walking on the girls swim team.
I will be majoring in Journalism. My current GPA is a 3.41.
Experience, Club Team, Zone Teams, Off-season work?
Started playing polo my sophomore year of high
school. It was the first year ever that Conant had a team. Since then i
have only done one club out side of Conant which was No Limit Water Polo.
When did you start? How? Where?
I started my sophomore year of high school. I was friends with the coach and she let me know that a team was starting out and told me to tryout. As soon as i got in the water, I didn't want to get out. It was a great time and I learned how to handle the ball really quickly.
Awards and achievements?
Last year i was awarded by being on the all-sectional team and also was all-conference. I was also awarded as the MVP of the team and got an award for the best defense, best team leader and the most steals. I have also been the captain for 2 years now!
Personal interests? Music? TV shows?
I love country music. Once i heard it last
year i just kept listening. I love going to concerts and I'm going to
Country thunder this summer in Wisconsin. Its a week long concert and its
going to be sweet!!! I love The Simpsons and The Real World. I couldn't
live with out those shows!
Goals for the future with polo? School? Life?
I hope that this year my team will make it
through at least the first round of sectionals. We are learning more and
more each game on how to work together. I really would like to get all
sectional and all conference again. I would like to be recruited to play
at a college and get a scholarship for it but i have a long way to go. I
want to graduate with t least a 3.5 GPA from college and be able to have
my own place after graduating college. I really want to travel and I'm
planning on studying abroad in Australia my junior year of college my
motivation is just thinking that i have wasted my life. I don't want to be
100 years old and look back at my life and wish i should have done
something else or that i should have done more things. I just want to make
the most out of life.
First Season role?
I mainly did two-meter defense but i would float around and do everything. I am the main two-meter defensive player If I'm needed i can play anywhere and i will usually be put in regular two-meter position.
