Bremen Sectional Preview
Sandburg and Mother McAuley have yet to meet in 2005, but they are on a collision course to meet in the sectional finals if they can avoid an upset in the first two rounds. The Mighty Macs advanced to state with a win over the Eagles in last year's Sandburg sectional, but the Eagles will be looking for revenge and a trip to the state tournament. Sandburg has a variety of weapons, starting on the defensive end with sisters Amanda and Sam Cody, defender Hannah Ciurej, and goaltender Mary Cusack. Ami Czerwinski, Nicole Srutowksi, and Michelle Mulhall provide a spark on the offensive end, making the Eagles the favorites to win the Bremen sectional.

Meanwhile, Mother McAuley has turned things up a notch down the homestretch, knocking off St Ignatius 9-6 last weekend to advance to the MCAC championship game. With Maggie Wood leading the way for the Mighty Macs and Lily Gonzalez and Lily Cortez providing the offense, McAuley has the potential to get back to state in 2005.

Stagg will provide a challenge for the Mighty Macs if they can get past Bremen in the opening round. The Chargers feature a balanced attack with Mary Galis and Karina Kennedy, but they will need to be at their best in order to win. Meanwhile, Richards is a slight favorite over Morgan Park in the other first round matchup.
