Game Preview - FACTS & STATS: Site: Stevenson High School -- Lincolnshire, Illinois. 2005 Series Record: Mundelein leads 1-0. GAME NOTES: Mundelein finally overcame their rival Stevenson last weekend to advance to state with an 11-10 win. In that game, talented goalie Andrew Peterson played in the field, as he causes major matchup problems for the opposition. Greg Peck has speed, is the team's leading scorer, and plays solid on the defensive to make things happen for ther Mustangs. A crop of juniors including Sean Larsen, Mark Selle, Geoff Schott, and Brandon Schawel make the entire lineup for Mundelein tough to handle, as each player brings something different to the table for their team. The biggest surprise this season has been backup goalie Tyler Rayomme, who has played so well in goal that it has allowed Peterson to play in the field in most games. Senior Brian Sheehan can start or come off the bench to provide the team with valuable minutes, and the same goes for sophomore Grant Gates and freshman Ricky Lucaks. The Pirates are a senior-laden group with Kyle Finnegan in goal, Rob Malenchik at two-meters, and sprinter Kyle Sorenson supplying the speed. Malenchik has stepped up this year as the second leading scorer for Palatine, and he has the ability to score quickly from two meters. Meanwhile, junior Skylar Davis is a solid all-around player and is the team's leading scorer with 56 total goals. Louis Margano and Tony Cepuran add experience in the starting lineup and would like to help the Pirates advance to the Final Four in their senior seasons. Steve Grzybek completes a well-balanced starting lineup for Palatine, who are playing in their final tournament under head coach Brigitte Kusevskis. This game boils down to the play of Peck and Peterson. If those two are at their best, the Mustangs should be able to advance to the Final Four. Meanwhile, Finnegan holds the key to the upset bid for the Pirates; if he shines in goal, Palatine could make this game much more interesting than the first meeting this year.
