Monday, May 7
Play-In Games
Palatine 23 Vernon Hills 10
Christian Kalfas poured in 7 goals, Omar El-Hoffi and Wally Kleinfeldt
each registered 4 scores, and Alex Brons put away 3 goals as Palatine
rolled to a 23-10 win over Vernon Hills. Peter Blackham also totaled 9
saves, 4 assists, and 4 steals for the victorious Pirates. David Zepeda
scored 4 times and Sean Pinter notched 2 scores in the season-ending loss
for the Cougars.
Mundelein 10 Highland Park 4
Jason Rehor recorded 6 goals and Matt Marcotte notched 2 scores as
Mundelein defeated Highland Park 10-4. Garrett Lessem led the Giants with 2
goals in the losing effort.
Wednesday, May 9
Quarterfinals
Stevenson 11 Mundelein 3
Alex Shkiler and Chris Hodges both scored 3 goals and Hasan Khan notched 2
scores as Stevenson held off Mundelein 11-3 to advance to the semifinal
round. Robbie O'Brien also recorded 7 saves in the victory for the
Patriots. Art Kasemets and Jason Rehor each tallied one score apiece for
Mundelein, while goalie Jakub Sierzputowski made 14 saves and also scored
a goal in the loss for the Mustangs.
Wheeling 12 Buffalo Grove 10
Cory Perlman scored 3 times and Austin Ihde, Dan Shriber, and Lukasz
Szczpaniec each netted 2 goals as Wheeling beat Buffalo Grove 12-10 in a
see-saw battle on Wednesday night. Noah Ihde also made 15 saves in the
Wildcats' win. Ian Rodriguez led the Bison with 6 goals, while Ryan
Chlopowicz put in 2 goals in the loss.
McHenry 20 Palatine 16
Dylan Clohessy poured in 7 goals and Lucas Matthys recorded 5 goals as
McHenry pulled away from the Pirates in the fourth quarter to earn a 20-16
win. Robbie Schwartfelger also scored 4 times and Joe Peck nicked 2 goals
in the winning effort for the Warriors. Christian Kalfas scored 5 times,
Alex Brons tallied 4 scores, and Omar El-Hoffi netted 3 goals in the loss
for Palatine.
Lake Forest 12 Libertyville 11 (2 OT)
Jason Woodruff's rebound goal with 1:01 left in sudden-death overtime sent
Lake Forest past Libertyville 12-11 on Wednesday night. The teams traded
leads throughout the game, with Adam King (LHS) and David Hayes (LFHS)
trading goals in the final minute of regulation and Wildcats goalie
Clayton Kullander nearly winning the game with a shot from his own end
that hit the crossbar as the fourth period buzzer sounded.
Jason Voelker put the Wildcats ahead in the first overtime period, but
John Baker evened things up in the first minute of the second overtime
session, and neither team could grab the advantage to setup a third
overtime period and a sudden-death situation. Woodruff's heroics came two
minutes into the overtime period, sending the Scouts to the semifinals to
face McHenry on Friday night.
Baker led Lake Forest with 5 goals, Woodruff netted 3 scores, and David
Hayes and Colin Rowe both put in 2 goals in the winning effort. Adam Keefe
led Libertyville with 5 scores and Adam King tallied 3 scores in the
losing effort.
Friday, May 11
Semifinals
Stevenson 20 Wheeling 13
Mitchell Sokolsky poured in 7 goals and Alex Shkiler connected on 6 shots
as Stevenson beat Wheeling 20-13 on Friday. Remy Dalloul added 3 scores,
Chris Hodges and Evan Woodward notched 2 scores, and Robbie O'Brien
stopped 7 shots in the Patriots win. Austin Ihde led the Wildcats with 4
goals, while Lucasz Szsepaniac tallied 3 scores, Cory Perlman and Dan
Shriber netted 2 goals, and Noah Ihde stopped 12 shots in the losing
effort.
McHenry 15 Lake Forest 8
Joe Peck netted 5 goals, Lucas Matthys put in 4 scores, and Matt Peck
notched 3 goals as McHenry pulled away from Lake Forest to earn a 15-8
victory on Friday. John Baker led the Scouts with 6 goals in the losing
effort.
Saturday, May 12
Finals
(1) Stevenson 16 (2) McHenry

Alex Shkiler scored 4 times, Chris Hodges, Kyle Plotsky, and Mitchell
Sokolsky each netted 3 scores, and Robbie O'Brien made 12 saves as Stevenson
held off McHenry 16-15 to return to the state tournament after a brief
hiatus. Remy Dalloul also notched 2 scores in the Patriots' win. Dylan
Clohessy recorded 9 goals, including a penalty shot in the final minute that
cut the Stevenson lead to one goal, but the victors were able to run out the
clock on their final possession. Robbie Schwerdtfeger put in 4 goals and
Lucas Matthys scored 3 times in the Warriors' loss. Wyatt Schroeder also
totaled 7 saves for McHenry.
