Henry Yavitt/Michael Krueger/Sam Yavitt (New Trier)
Henry Yavitt and Michael Krueger both recorded 9 goals and Sam Yavitt
scored 8 times as the Trevians won the GBS Tournament after earning wins
over the hosts, Naperville North, Palatine and Prospect.
Krueger led the team with 3 goals in the title game win over GBS and also
scored 4 times in a preliminary round win over Palatine.
Sam Yavitt helped the Trevians ace the preliminary round of the event on
Friday with 5 goals against Naperville North and Prospect. He scored the
game-tying goal and set up Will Kohr for the game-winner in Friday night's
win over Naperville North.
Henry Yavitt was named the tournament MVP. He totaled 4 goals in a
one-goal win over Naperville North on Friday night. Earlier in the week he
led the Trevians with 3 goals in a 12-7 victory over Maine South.
GIRLS
Issi French/Zoe Salafatinos (Neuqua Valley)
Salafatinos totaled 10 goals and 14 steals while French made 28 saves,
earned one shutout and allowed less than one goal per game as the Wildcats
won their own event after beating Bradley, Maine South and Metea Valley.
Earlier in the week, Salafatinos registered 4 scores and 5 steals while
French stopped 22 shots and earned 6 steals in games against Lyons and
Naperville North.
Genevieve Curry/Jilly Cronin (Oak Park)
Curry scored 13 goals and Cronin notched 10 scores as the Huskies won the
Naperville North Tournament after beating the hosts, Lake Forest and
Lincoln-Way North.
Cronin led the offense with 5 goals in the victory over LWN while Curry
totaled 8 goals in OPRF's 10-9 comeback win over Naperville North. Curry
was also responsible for the game-tying and game-winning goals against the
hosts.
During the week, Curry and Cronin both scored 3 times in a 12-9 win over
WSC rival Lyons while the pair combined to score 7 goals in Thursday
night's 10-4 victory over New Trier.
