John Fischer (Barrington)
Fischer led the Broncos' offense with 11 goals as the squad won their own
tournament on Saturday after earning win over Libertyville and McHenry. He
also scored 4 goals on Monday night in a 12-8 victory over Fremd.
The defending sectional champions are now 5-2 in the MSL West division and
have posted a 15-3 overall record in '16.
Kent Emden (Naperville Central)
The Redhawks' freshman has yet to lose a high school game thus far after
Naperville Central won the 'Best of the West' event over the weekend.
Emden posted four wins, stopped 46 shots, earned one shutout and allowed
just two goals per game as the Redhawks beat Buffalo Grove, GBS, Hinsdale
Central and Naperville North.
Emden also made 9 saves in a 12-3 win over STC North earlier in the week,
helping Naperville Central improve to an impressive 16-0 record.
GIRLS
Allison Travetto (Stevenson)
Travetto poured in 36 over the weekend as Stevenson posted a 4-0 record at
their own tournament. The senior, who made 21 steals and dished out 12
assists, also scored the game winner in Stevenson's overtime victory over
Mother McAuley to wrap up the tournament.
Earlier in the week, Travetto scored 7 times in a 17-8 victory over
Libertyville to move the defending champions to 16-1 this season.
Lauren Burns (Stevenson)
Burns made a total of 64 saves over the weekend to help the Patriots
(16-1) finish 4-0 at the their own tournament against three of Michigan's
top teams and Mother McAuley. The senior also made 17 steals and
contributed 11 assists in the four game span.
She also blocked 9 shots in Thursday's 17-8 victory over Libertyville.
Olivia Everhart (Evanston)
Everhart made 40 saves and allowed just 2 goals per game to help Evanston
claim the Palatine Tournament after the squad beat Conant, LWE, Palatine
and STC North. She also recorded her fifth shutout of the season in a 2-0
victory over Conant on Saturday afternoon.
Everhart also scored once from her own end in a 7-3 win over STC North and
later allowed just one fourth quarter goal in a 2-1 title game victory
over Palatine.
Earlier in the week, Everhart made 10 saves and allowed 3 goals in a 9-3
victory over GBS. The Wildkits improved their record to 15-4 at the end of
Week 6.
