Postseason Water Polo Updates
By Aaron
Brown
Now that the postseason is underway, here is a list
of some updates that might help you keep up with the action during the
most hectic time of the water polo season:
1) Sectional Ballers - Ballers will be named at
the end of each round of the sectional playoffs, ranging from the play-in
games to the sectional finals. Super Ballers will be named like usual at
the end of the sectional playoffs.
2) Twitter Feed - For those without Twitter or
who shy away from social media, a link has been provided directly on the
web site that allows site viewers to follow the latest updates from the
sectional and state playoffs besides the scores.
3) Live Scoreboard - Scores will be updated on
the main page for all live games. Most game scores will be updated on the
scoreboard page, the blog and in the Sectional Center when they are completed.
4) Sectional Center - The
2016 Sectional Center
will provide schedules, scores and recaps throughout the postseason and
will also list the All-Sectional Teams once they are voted on and
announced.
5) Brackets -
Playoff brackets are available
to keep track of postseason results or to make your own playoff
predictions.
6) A Postseason Call For More Information - As has been stated many times throughout the year, the
whole purpose of this site is to promote the sport of water polo and, even
more importantly, to recognize the efforts of the boys and girls that
participate in this great sport.
There is no reason why every single game and every
single performance cannot be recognized with a brief recap that can be
included in locations like The Illpolo Blog, The Sectional Center, The
Illpolo Report or several other places on the site.
So here is my call out to any coach, fan, parent,
player or anyone else involved with the sport of water polo. Make the
assumption that no one else will send any information. Take the time to
send information to
illpolostaff@gmail.com via e-mail. Send text messages after each
quarter, halftime or at the end of a game to (847) 331-6520 or send a
message to the
@illpolo account on Twitter with a quick
score report. If you see that there is no information about a game and you
have some details that would be helpful in getting some hard-working
players recognition...submit it!
This will be mentioned again later in the week, but I
am also looking for anyone who is willing to send live game info on either
Friday or Saturday during semifinal and final games. With eight different
sites hosting games at nearly identical times, I will only be able to get
to 2-3 places to see and report on games, so anyone who is willing to send
live game information can provide a great service to water polo fans
throughout and beyond Illinois. If you have any questions or need more
information, please contact me at the e-mail address listed above.
Let's do whatever possible to get all of the athletes
the credit they deserve and keep everyone updated on what goes down in
the great sport of water polo during the most exciting time of the season!
Best of luck in the postseason,
Aaron Brown
