Spring Bracket Drawing

The IHSA held the Spring Bracket drawing in Bloomington on April 6. Here is how the quarterfinals will line up in May for the 2016 state tournament:

BOYS

Game 1: GBS Sectional vs Fremd Sectional

Game 2: BG Sectional vs Lyons Sectional

Game 3: LWN Sectional vs St Ignatius Sectional

Game 4: Metea Valley Sectional vs York Sectional

GIRLS

Game 1: LWN Sectional vs Metea Valley Sectional

Game 2: Fremd Sectional vs Lyons Sectional

Game 3: GBS Sectional vs York Sectional

Game 4: BG Sectional vs St Ignatius Sectional

To avoid any confusion, here is how everything works. The IHSA does a blind draw to determine the pairings for the state tournament. The first team drawn is placed on the first position of an eight-team bracket, and every team drawn after that fills the next spot in the bracket.

In the above listing, the winner of Game 1 will play the winner of Game 2 in the state semifinals, while the winner of Game 3 plays the winner of Game 4 in the second semifinal game.
