Week 10 Ballers - Sectional Edition
GIRLS
Abbey Hodges/Emma Gelberg/Natalie Gelberg (HP)
Emma and Natalie Gelberg both scored 6 goals and Hodges made 34 saves as
the Lady Giants earned victories over Deerfield and Libertyville to
advance to the sectional finals.
Allison Travetto/Lauren Burns (Stevenson)
Travetto recorded 12 goals and Burns made 23 saves as the Patriots beat
Highland Park and Palatine to win the Buffalo Grove Sectional.
Becca Rutkowski/Emma Jeronimus (Fremd)
Rutkowski scored 8 times and Jeronimus made 35 saves to help the Vikings
beat Meadows and Schaumburg en route to their own sectional final game,
where they lost a one-goal decision to Conant in the final minute of
regulation.
Cassidy Degraff/Jess Larson (Lincoln-Way North)
Degraff scored 12 goals and Larson notched 11 scores as the Phoenix beat
Lincoln-Way East and Sandburg to win their first sectional title.
Catie Wallace/Kelly Frumkin (Fenwick)
Frumkin scored 6 goals and Wallace netted 5 scores to help the Friars earn
wins over Oak Park and York to advance to the state tournament. Frumkin
scored the first two goals in overtime, including the game-winner, while
Wallace added an insurance goal in Fenwick's extra time win over OPRF.
Claire Connors/Nicole McCabe/Teresa DiGiovanni (LWE)
McCabe poured in 10 goals, DiGiovanni scored 7 times and Connors rejected
38 shots as the Griffins' defeated Bremen and H-F to advance to the LWN
Sectional finals.
Jenny Stelnicki (St Ignatius)
Stelnicki allowed just one goal throughout the St Ignatius Sectional as
the Wolfpack beat Jones-Payton, Lincoln Park and Whitney Young to advance
to the state tournament.
Jilly Cronin/Kaitlyn Peterson (Oak Park)
Cronin racked up 11 goals while Peterson blocked 26 shots and earned a
shutout as the Huskies advanced to the title game of the York Sectional.
Maddie Cordell/Madie Janik (Lyons)
Cordell registered 7 goals and Janik blocked 26 shots and earned a shutout
to help the Lions advance to the title game of their own sectional.
Olivia Everhart (Evanston)
Everhart made 35 saves and earned her sixth shutout of the season (an IHSA
record) as the Wildkits got past Loyola and Maine South to advance to the
GBS Sectional finals.
