Week 2 Ballers

 

BOYS

Bryan McNitt (LWE)

McNitt tallied 15 goals for the Griffins as they picked up a pair of key wins over H-F and St Patrick over the weekend at the Fenwick Tournament.

 

Cody Torres/Matt Klock (LWC)

Torres and Klock combined to score 25 goals at the LWN Tournament as the Knights finished the event with a 4-0 record.

 

Ethan Hamp (Von Steuben)

Hamp led all scorers at the Maine East Tournament as the Panthers won the event after posting a 4-0 record. He also scored 24 goals in the opening week of the season and has helped Von Steuben post a remarkable 11-0 record thus far in 2016.

 

Henry Yavitt/Mason McQuet (New Trier)

Yavitt led the Trevians' offense with 13 goals as New Trier won the Mundelein Tournament, their second tournament win of this young season. Meanwhile, for the second straight event, McQuet provided the lockdown defense necessary for the Trevians to improve to 8-0 this young season.

 

Jake Carlson (LWW)

Carlson led all scorers at the Schaumburg Tournament with 32 goals as the Warriors claimed the event's title with wins over Lafayette, McHenry, Wheeling and Whitney Young.

 

Jason Parkinson/Mike Laughlin/Ryan Murphy (LWN)

The Phoenix trio helped lead the team to a 4-0 record at their own event; Parkinson and Murphy both totaled 9 goals and 9 steals while Laughlin scored 8 times and drew 7 ejections.

 

Keegan Reilly/Riley Byrne (Metea Valley)

Reilly totaled 18 goals and Byrne blocked 35 shots as the Mustangs went 3-1 at the Maine East Tournament and finished in third place at the event.

 

Nate Reiff (Wheeling)

Reiff accumulated 27 goals for the Wildcats to help the squad earn a  second place finish at the Schaumburg Tournament.

 

Peter Dales/Richard Poma (Glenbrook South)

Dales led the Titans with 23 goals while Poma totaled 13 scores as GBS went 5-0 to win the Evanston Tournament, their second straight trophy of the 2016 campaign.

 

 

 

GIRLS

Diana Fernandez/Stephania Lopez (St Ignatius)

Fernandez and Lopez combined to score 19 goals to help the Wolfpack secure the Naperville Central Tournament title as St Ignatius stayed perfect thus far in 2016.

 

Emma Gelberg/Natalie Gelberg (Highland Park)

The Gelberg sisters combined to score 30 goals at the Maine South Tournament as the Lady Giants won the event's title with a 4-0 mark.

 

Emily Westlove/Kaela Codo (Naperville Central)

Codo and Westlove combined to score 18 times for the Redhawks as they finished in third place with a 3-1 record at their own tournament over the weekend. Codo also scored 3 times while Westlove contributed a goal and 3 assists in a win over Waubonsie Valley earlier in the week.

 

Genevieve Curry (Oak Park)

Curry totaled 15 goals for the Huskies to help the team win the Young Tournament with a 3-0 record. She also led the squad with 6 goals in a win over H-F earlier in the week.

 

Grace Achepohl (York)

Achepohl led the Dukes' offense with 11 goals and was a constant presence on the defensive end as York picked up a pair of key wins over Mundelein and Saline at the Naperville Central Tournament.

 

Jillian Schultz (Bremen)

Schultz led the Red Jaguars' offense to another title as she notched 10 scores at the O'Bremen Tournament and the team finished with a 3-0 record. She also totaled 4 goals and 7 steals in a mid-week win over Sandburg.

 

Katherine Rogers (Deerfield)

Rogers led all scorers at the Maine South Tournament with 22 goals as the Warriors picked up a pair of key wins and a fourth place finish at the event.

 

Meredith Lohman (Jones-Payton)

Lohman led the Eagles with 10 goals to help Jones-Payton win their own tournament over the weekend. She also led the team with 3 scores in a win over Roosevelt earlier in the week.

 

Olivia Everhart (Evanston)

Everhart earned four shutouts and stopped 44 total shots as the Wildkits went 4-1 during Week 2 and placed second at the Young Tournament on Saturday.
