BOYS
Alex Grant (New Trier)
Grant registered 9 goals in wins over Glenbrook South and Loyola to help
lead the Trevians back to the state tourney in 2015.
Billy Barth/Sam Enger/Shane Hughes (St Ignatius)
Barth recorded 8 goals, Hughes notched 7 scores and Enger totaled 17 saves
as the Wolfpack earned a return trip to the state tournament with wins
over DLS and Von Steuben.
Chase Lesniak (Barrington)
Lesniak totaled 6 goals in victories over Conant and Fremd to help send
Barrington to the state tournament for the first time in school history.
Collin Kapecki (Stevenson)
Kapecki led the Patriots with 4 goals in an 18-7 semifinal victory over
McHenry before scoring 5 goals in a 15-7 win over Wheeling in the
sectional finals.
Danny Farmer/Will Skowron (Fenwick)
Farmer totaled 7 goals and 5 assists while Skowron blocked 13 shots and
earned a shutout as the Friars beat Whitney Young and blanked Curie to
advance to the state tourney.
George Lundgren/Tommy Kaptur (Lyons)
Lundgren accumulated 10 goals and Kaptur's defense and all-around play
helped limit Brother Rice and Stagg to just 6 goals apiece as the Lions
won their own sectional.
Jake Burke/Pat Burke (LWC)
Pat scored 4 goals and Burke made 11 saves in the Knights' 9-5 win over
Andrew on Friday night plus Pat netted 2 goals and Jake stopped 9 shots in
Central's 8-6 win over Sandburg as LWC earned its' first sectional title
in school history.
Nick Walker (Naperville Central)
Walker totaled 9 goals in Friday's semifinal round win over Lockport and
netted 4 scores in Saturday's title game win over Neuqua Valley.
GIRLS
Allison Travetto/Melissa Gartenberg (Stevenson)
Travetto registered 11 goals and 10 steals while Gartenberg scored 10
times, made 13 steals and contributed 9 assists in the Patriots' wins over
Lake Forest and Palatine.
Alli Ramirez/Kim Bernhard (Lincoln-Way Central)
Ramirez scored 5 goals and Bernhard totaled 4 scores as the Knights beat
Bremen and LWW to advance to the state tournament. Bernhard also connected
on the game-winner in Saturday's 12-11 sectional title game win over
Bremen.
Caroline Walsh (Lyons)
Walsh totaled 7 goals and 8 steals to help lift the Lions past Mother
McAuley and Stagg over the weekend.
Carmen Rosas/Emily Weingart (Conant)
Rosas totaled 10 goals and Weingart scored 5 times as the Cougars earned
wins over Fremd and Schaumburg to move on to the state tournament for the
first time in team history.
Catie Wallace (Fenwick)
Wallace scored the game-winning goal in the fourth quarter of the Friars'
6-5 victory over Oak Park and totaled 4 of the team's 6 goals in the win.
Faith Vandercar/Kaela Codo (Naperville Central)
Codo totaled 12 goals in the Redhawks' wins over Sandburg and Naperville
North while Vandercar blocked 20 shots and a penalty while allowing 6
goals per game against a pair of Top 10 teams.
Lauren Barrett (New Trier)
Barrett racked up 10 goals to aid the Trevians in their return to the
state tourney after wins over Maine West and Loyola.
Jenny Stelnicki (St Ignatius)
Stelnicki blocked 20 shots and allowed just 5 total goals in wins over
Evanston and Northside as the Wolfpack won their own sectional over the
weekend.
