Spring Bracket Drawing

The IHSA held the Spring Bracket drawing in Bloomington on April 14. Here are how the quarterfinals will line up in May for the 2014 state tournament:

BOYS

Game 1: LWC Sectional vs Metea Sectional

Game 2: UIC Sectional vs Lyons Sectional

Game 3: Mundelein Sectional vs Stagg Sectional

Game 4: Palatine Sectional vs GBS Sectional

GIRLS

Game 1: GBS Sectional vs Mundelein Sectional

Game 2: LWC Sectional vs UIC Sectional

Game 3: Lyons Sectional vs Metea Sectional

Game 4: Palatine Sectional vs Stagg Sectional

To avoid any confusion, here is how everything works. The IHSA does a blind draw to determine the pairings for the state tournament. The first team drawn is placed on the first position of an eight-team bracket, and every team drawn after that fills the next spot in the bracket.

In the above listing, the winner of Game 1 will play the winner of Game 2 in the state semifinals, while the winner of Game 3 plays the winner of Game 4 in the second semifinal game.
