Chuck Walters (Andrew)
Walters' goal in sudden-death overtime helped the T-Bolts outlast Stagg
15-14 on opening night.
Shea Boyer (St Viator)
Boyer provided the game-winner in the Lions' 6-5 comeback victory over
DeLaSalle on Friday.
GIRLS
Jessica Fox/Kristina Altuve (Naperville Central)
Altuve drew a penalty with 0:23 left in regulation and Fox converted the
free shot to help the Redhawks seal a 6-5 comeback victory over Neuqua
Valley.
Top Goalie Performances
BOYS
Nick Maicke (Naperville North)
Maicke earned his first shutout and held opponents to less than 6 goals
per game as the Huskies opened the season with a 5-0 record after winning
the Naperville Tournament and earning a nonconference win over York.
Tym Zymon (St Ignatius)
Zymon was a key factor in the 6-0 start for the Wolfpack, as he allowed
less than 7 goals per game as SICP claimed the Palatine Tournament title
and also beat Northside and Saint Viator during Week 1.
GIRLS
Colleen Ahern (Loyola)
The Ramblers' goaltender stopped 26 shots on Saturday to help her team win
the Fremd Tournament with wins over Bremen, Fremd, and LWC.
Maddy Demaret (Conant)
Demaret totaled 25 saves to lead the Cougars' defense at they won their
own tournament on Saturday with wins over Lane, Lake Forest, and STC East.
Biggest Surprises
BOYS
R-B
The Bulldogs made their way to the title game of the Stagg Tournament over
the weekend with wins over Bradley, HC, and Morton.
Vernon Hills
The Cougars' showcased their improvement by winning the Hoffman Tournament
on Saturday, beating Glenbrook North earlier in the week, and starting the
new season with a 4-0 record.
GIRLS
Lincoln-Way East
East started their season off in fine fashion by winning the Hinsdale
Central Tournament with wins over the hosts, LWN, and STC North.
News and Notes
Fenwick Wins First Clash of the Titans
The Friars reclaimed the top spot in the rankings after they beat Catholic
League rival St Ignatius 16-11 on Friday night in Mundelein.
McAuley Sweeps Through Michigan
The Mighty Macs won the EGR Tournament by beating five Michigan teams over
the weekend, including the Wolverine state's defending champions
(Rockford).
Sectional Hosts/Assignments Coming Soon?
The IHSA has not released any information regarding the sectional playoffs
just yet, but expect both the hosts and the team assignments to be made at
some point this week.
