Spring Bracket Drawing

The IHSA held the Spring Bracket drawing in Bloomington on April 17. Here are how the quarterfinals will line up in May for the 2013 state tournament:

BOYS

Game 1: GBN Sectional vs Neuqua Sectional

Game 2: LWN Sectional vs Fenwick Sectional

Game 3: Mundelein Sectional vs Fremd Sectional

Game 4: UIC Sectional vs Stagg Sectional

GIRLS

Game 1: GBN Sectional vs LWN Sectional

Game 2: Fremd Sectional vs Mundelein Sectional

Game 3: UIC Sectional vs Neuqua Sectional

Game 4: Stagg Sectional vs Fenwick Sectional

To avoid any confusion, here is how everything works. The IHSA does a blind draw to determine the pairings for the state tournament. The first team drawn is placed on the first position of an eight-team bracket, and every team drawn after that fills the next spot in the bracket.

In the above listing, the winner of Game 1 will play the winner of Game 2 in the state semifinals, while the winner of Game 3 plays the winner of Game 4 in the second semifinal game.

In late March, the IHSA determined which teams will play in each sectional, and each sectional's seeds will be decided on Thursday, April 18.
