Brogan O'Doherty/Mitch Courtney (Hinsdale Central)
O'Doherty tallied 13 goals and Courtney stopped 32 shots and made 24
steals to help the Red Devils win the GBS Tournament on Saturday
afternoon.
Chris Sekula (Lyons)
Sekula allowed an average of just 3 goals per game as LT won the York
Tournament with wins over Mundelein, Niles West, Oak Park, and SLUH. He
also recorded a shutout in the team's 14-0 win over fifth-ranked Oak Park.
Eric Curia/Nolan Roberts (Naperville North)
Curia and Roberts combined to score 18 goals as North won their own
tournament with wins over Fremd, Sandburg, and STC North on Saturday. They
also teamed up to record 6 goals in Thursday's 9-7 triumph over Naperville
Central.
John Burke (Conant)
Burke totaled 10 goals in victories over Schaumburg and Wheeling during
the week and led the Cougars in scoring with 7 goals at the GBS Tournament
on Saturday.
Kevin Tunney/Zach Roper (Sandburg)
Tunney recorded 25 goals and 22 assists and Roper put in 27 goals as the
Eagles improved to 10-2 on the season and finished in third place at the
Naperville North Tournament. The team recorded wins over H-F, Latin, LWC,
Stagg, and STC North during Week 5.
Matt Bresnahan (Fenwick)
Bresnahan totaled 13 goals to help the Friars finish third at the York
Tournament with wins over Loyola, Oak Park, and the hosts.
GIRLS
Anna Tamulonis/Megan Hofer (Andrew)
Hofer totaled 14 goals and Tamulonis blocked 38 shots and allowed just 11
goals as the T-Bolts went 3-0 during Week 5 after wins over LWW, Stagg,
and Waubonsie Valley.
Ashley Oliver/Melissa Gartenberg (Stevenson)
Oliver and Gartenberg combined to score 22 goals for the Patriots in their
run to a fifth-place finish at the Fenwick Tournament over the weekend.
Blair Hopwood (Lyons)
Hopwood recorded 12 goals at the Fenwick Tournament and also scored 4
times in Wednesday's 14-3 win over Hinsdale Central.
Cara Borkovec/Colleen Barron (Fenwick)
Borkovec and Barron led a balanced offensive attack for the Friars as they
combined to score 19 goals as the team went 3-0-1 at their own tournament,
tying St Ignatius for their own tournament title (Fenwick technically won
the tiebreaker).
Clare Bryar/Kristen Kleist (Mother McAuley)
Bryar recorded 11 goals and Kleist scored 8 times to help the Mighty Macs
finish in third place at the Fenwick Tourney after wins over Evanston,
H-F, and Mundelein.
Danijela Jackovich (Lincoln-Way Central)
Jackovich recorded 19 goals in victories over Lockport, LWE, and Sandburg
during Week 5 to help the Knights improve to an impressive 8-1 record in
2013.
Karrie Kozokar (Mundelein)
Kozokar scored 17 goals at the Fenwick Tournament to help the Mustangs
earn wins over Loyola and Naperville Central; she also tallied 5 goals in
Tuesday's 9-6 win over New Trier.
Lisa Danhauer (Barrington)
Danhauer led all scorers at the Barrington Tournament with 11 goals,
helping her side finish 3-0 with wins over Vernon Hills, Lake Forest, and
Libertyville. She also recorded 10 goals in wins over Buffalo Grove and
Fremd during Week 5.
Rachel Chumbook/Kim Butler (Palatine)
Chumbook scored 22 goals and Butler made 52 saves as the Pirates went 4-0
to win the Maine East Tournament. Chumbook also scored 20 goals and Butler
stopped 40 shots in wins over Hersey, Hoffman, and Libertyville during the
week.
Sarah Pircon (Hinsdale Central)
Pircon totaled 14 scores at the GBS Tournament as the Red Devils won the
event after finishing with a 3-0 record. The team earned wins over Conant,
GBS, and LWW, with Pircon netting 6 goals in the virtual title game
victory over the hosts.
