QUARTER 1
Lyons starts with and Shannon gets off a quick shot but Malecki knocks it
down
Sandburg turns it over on the other end
Bonnar scores from outside 5m to give Sandburg the early 1-0 lead
Zygas wastes no time with a response from 2m to tie the game
Sekula makes a save on one end and McMahon connects from 7m to put
Lyons on top 2-1
Both teams make stops on the next two possessions
Errant pass from LT into set gives the ball back to Sandburg
Outside shot from Bonnar is knocked down by Sekula; LT turns it over right
away
Sekula denies Zieler's shot from the left side
Strong 7m shot from Hirt goes through Malecki and Lyons leads 3-1
Bonnar scores his second from outside to slice the lead down to 3-2
Sekula makes sure Bonnar can't score his third goal, but an offensive foul
gives the ball right back to the Eagles
Sandburg can't get the ball inside 7m so they settle for an off-target
outside shot
The Lions try to work the ball into Shannon but three defenders converge
to block his attempted move
Malecki makes a save on Sekula's last second shot at the end of the period

QUARTER 2
LT's first possession results in a penalty shot that Zygas converts;
4-2 Lyons
Sandburg turns it over; Malecki makes a save on a 4m shot
Sekula does the same on the other end and starts the counterattack
Zygas loses possession at 2m but intercepts a pass intended for Malecki
and scores an unassisted goal
Zygas adds a penalty shot to give Lyons a 6-2 advantage
Lyons is rampant now as Shannon scores a counterattack goal
Sandburg timeout
Neither team can score on their next two possessions, with Hirt coming the
closest with a lob that nicks the crossbar
Bonnar nets his third goal from the right side to stop the bleeding for
Sandburg
The Eagles get a stop and their first 6-on-5 advantage and Zieler makes
them pay with a goal from the left
LT tries to get Shannon a look at 2m but the pass is taken away by Malecki
Tunney scores on the other end from 4m out; Sandburg is back in it down
7-5 with two minutes until halftime
Sekula makes a save on Sandburg's next 6-on-5 chance to keep LT ahead by
two
Zygas ends Sandburg's run with a goal from 2m to give Lyons an 8-5 lead
Veldman responds with a goal immediately and it's 8-6!
Malecki makes a save, Sandburg turns it over, and Dore's shot sails over
the goal as we reach halftime

QUARTER 3
Sandburg's first chance is a lob attempt that just misses
The Eagles make a stop on the other end
Sekula comes out of the cage to prevent a scoring chance
The Lions earn an ejection but fail convert with their shot attempt
Zieler scores his second from the left side to trim the lead to one
goal
Sandburg gets it back, Lyons with a stop
Lyons timeout
Immediate 6-on-5 chance for Lyons that Shannon converts to make the
score 9-7
Bonnar hits the post twice in two straight possessions for the Eagles
Add another goal for Shannon who has come alive here in the second half
The teams trade possessions without a scoring chance, then Sandburg just
misses with an outside shot
Veldman elevates and slams home a shot from 4m to make it 10-8
Time expires at the end of the third period with Lyons ahead by two goals

QUARTER 4
Sandburg wins the swim-off to start the period but they miss with their
ensuing shot attempt
Lyons turnover; Sekula makes a save on a 7m attempt by Sandburg
Another Sandburg stop; the Eagles try to set to Veldman at 2m but a
double-team prevents a scoring chance
McMahon scores from close-range on the other end and Lyons takes an
11-8 lead
Sandburg timeout
Again the Eagles try to set but McGuinness makes his second straight steal
Penalty to Lyons! Zygas skips his shot into the right corner and it's
12-8
The teams trade turnovers as we hit the midway point of the fourth quarter
Backhand attempt by Shannon is knocked down by Malecki
Scramble at 2m in front of the Sandburg goal results in a turnover by
Lyons
Sekula denies Veldman's 5m attempt
The Lions run the shot clock down and dump the ball as we go under the
three minute mark
Veldman turns his defender at 2m and scores to cut the lead to 12-9
Tunney scores on Sandburg's next possession and the lead is 12-10!
Sandburg with a stop, they draw a kickout, but Bonnar's shot goes over the
goal
Lyons timeout
The Lions will try and work the clock but they turn it over within ten
seconds
Sandburg timeout
The Eagles work the ball into the right corner, but terrific team defense
by LT denies any shots on goal
Lyons can run the clock almost all the way down now
Sandburg with one last chance...
...somehow Tunney's shot gets through Sekula from the right side to
make it 12-11!
But time runs out and Lyons escapes with the 12-11 win
