Palmer racked up 17 goals to lead the Trevians to the GBS Tournament title
over the weekend. In the opening game on Friday night, he scored 4 times
in a win over Palatine. He scored 14 more on Saturday, helping New Trier
beat Lake Forest, Glenbrook South, and Naperville North en route to the
title and the event's MVP award.
Mike Mulcrone (Brother Rice)
Mulcrone poured in 21 goals during the four-game set at the Crusaders' own
tournament, leading the team to a 4-0 record and the event's title. On
Friday, he scored 6 times in each win for Rice, as the hosts topped
Hinsdale Central and St Patrick. In the championship round on Saturday, he
netted 5 scores in a 14-3 win over Sandburg and tallied 4 goals in an
11-10 title game victory over Loyola.
GIRLS
Isabelle Baneaux (New Trier)
Baneaux not only led the Trevians with 11 goals at the St Ignatius
Tournament, she also scored the game-winning goal in overtime as New Trier
stunned the hosts 9-8 in the title game of the event.
Baneaux scored 3 times in a 12-1 win over Waubonsie on Friday, netted 2
scores in a 7-7 draw with Lyons, and put in 3 scores in an 11-2 victory
over Loyola. In addition to the final and most important goal of the
tournament, she totaled 3 scores in the championship game win over the
Wolfpack.
