Curia led the Huskies to a perfect 5-0 record in the opening week of the
season, which included winning their own event on Saturday with wins over
Metea,
NC, Neuqua, and WV. Curia scored 20 goals in the four games and totaled 10
steals and 8 assists along the way. He also poured in 8 goals earlier in
the week in an 18-6 victory over York.
Brendan Hulseman/Charlie Dowdle (Loyola)
The Ramblers' duo of Hulseman and Dowdle scored 17 goals over the weekend
at the Palatine Tournament, helping the squad go from worst-to-first as
they improved upon last year's last place finish with a 4-0 record. Loyola
earned wins over Curie and Palatine on Friday before earning one-goal
victories over Latin and New Trier in the final round.
GIRLS
Julie Conrath (Fremd)
Conrath recorded two shutouts at the Loyola Tournament in wins over the
hosts and Hersey, helping the Vikings earn the event's title while scoring
2 goals of her own in the process. She totaled over 50 saves as Fremd went
5-0 in the opening week, which also included wins over Hersey, R-B, and
Saint Viator.
Lizzie Hollopeter (Metea Valley)
Hollopeter notched 10 scores over the weekend at the NV Tournament,
leading the Mustangs to a second place finish and a 2-1-1 record. She
scored 3 times apiece in wins over Naperville North and Waubonsie and
added 2 scores in a 7-7 draw with the hosts. She also scored 6 times in an
early week victory over STC East.
