Semifinal #2: Fenwick 14 Sandburg 2
LINCOLNSHIRE, IL - It took a few minutes for
Fenwick to get going in the opening quarter, but once they did, they did
not let up in a dominant 14-2 victory over Sandburg on Saturday
afternoon. The Friars advanced to the state title game for the eighth
straight year, setting up a showdown with fellow Catholic League member
St Ignatius in the final game.
Viken Huening was the star of the show for
the Friars, as he benefitted from the double and triple-teams that were
tasked with shutting down Fenwick sophomore Matt Farmer. Huening was the
benefactor, as he scored 7 goals in the win, while Farmer and Connor
Brown each added 2 scores for the Friars. Dan Kelly, Dominic Gallo, and
Keith Miller each recorded one score in the Fenwick victory.
Cody Corridino and Brian Hopman each scored
once in the loss for the Eagles, who will take on Loyola in the
third-place game on Saturday night.
