Quarterfinal #1: Loyola 13 McHenry 11
LINCOLNSHIRE, IL - Loyola outlasted McHenry
13-11 to become the second Catholic League team to advance to the state
semifinals on Friday night. Brendan Hulseman and Charlie Dowdle combined
to score 9 goals for the Ramblers, who fought off a late surge from the
Warriors with a 3-1 run in the fourth quarter to earn the win.
With the score tied at 10-10, Hulseman
provided the heroics with two straight goals with under three minutes to
go. Kyle Braun got a goal back for the Warriors on a penalty shot, but
Hulseman scored again with just under one minute to go to seal the
Ramblers' win.
Hulseman scored 6 times, Dowdle added 4
goals, and Erik Goosman, Tim Netzel, and William
LeCompte each netted one score for Loyola. Braun led the Warriors with 6
goals, while Lucas Matthys scored 2 times in the
losing effort for McHenry. Andrew Hertel, Dylan Clohessy, and Joe Peck
each scored once for the Warriors.
