State Championship: Fenwick vs Stevenson
LINCOLNSHIRE, IL - Will Fenwick make their
way back to the winner's circle on Saturday night or will the Patriots
be able to
continue their amazing run to claim their first-ever IHSA state championship? We'll find at at 6:30pm when
the two traditional powers square off at Stevenson High School in a
game for the ages.
The Patriots will have to stop the balanced
Fenwick offense, which gets contributions on both ends from every
starter. Meanwhile, the Friars will have to contain both Cheyenne
Montijo and Karen Lowry on the offensive end and will have to try to get
enough shots past Stevenson goalie Lisa Michalowski. Not to be outdone,
Fenwick goalie Mackenzie Bonk has somewhat quietly had an excellent
state tournament, so Friars' head coach Jack Wagner will likely look to
his goalie to be a rock at the back of the Fenwick defense.
Two of the most experienced head coaches in
the state go head-to-head in this one, as Wagner and Stevenson head
coach Jeff Wimer will try to outdo one another once again in 2011.
