The Pirates' goaltender stopped 40 shots at the Glenbrook South Tournament
over the weekend, earning official MVP honors while helping the
team win the event with a 3-0-1 record. Palatine earned victories over Evanston
and Lake Forest in the opening round, finished in an 11-11 tie with the
hosts, then edged Naperville North 8-7 in the final game to claim the
tourney title.
Earlier in the week, Sommerfeld helped the Pirates clinch the MSL West
title with wins over Fremd and Hoffman. He totaled 28 saves in the two
games and has helped Palatine stay perfect in the conference in 2011.

Devin Green
(Marian)
Green blocked 33 shots and all 3 penalty shots she faced on Saturday,
helping Marian to a perfect 3-0 mark at the Naperville North Tournament.
The Spartans won the event after Green allowed just 5 goals in a 10-5 win
over Hinsdale Central in the tournament title game.
Earlier in the week, Green made 16 saves to help Marian beat Waubonsie
Valley 6-4.
