Tournament Previews

The schedules are set for the
final week of the regular season, with seven tournaments/conference
championships slated for the last four days of action before the postseason
begins. Here is a closer look at what to look for over the weekend:
CPS
Tournament
Curie enters the CPS Tournament
as the top seed as the eight teams that qualified for the event begin
quarterfinal action on Wednesday afternoon. The Condors take on Lincoln
Park in the opening round, with the winner playing the victor of the Von-NSP
matchup in the semifinals on Saturday morning. Young heads the other side
of the bracket, meeting Foreman in round one. The winner will play either
Juarez or Lane in the semifinals.
The championship game will be
played at 5:00pm on Saturday.

CSL
Tournament (at Glenbrook North)
The Central Suburban League begins their two-day
tournament on Friday afternoon with nine teams involved in four
quarterfinal games and a play-in contest at 4:30pm. Niles West plays Maine
West in the tournament opener, with the winner meeting top seed New Trier
later in the evening. Other quarterfinal games include Evanston-Maine
South, GBS-Maine East, and GBN-Deer Park.
The semifinals begin on Saturday at 11:00am and the
event wraps up with the title game at 3:00pm

MCAC
Tournament
(at Fenwick)
The Catholic League gets their quarterfinal round
started on Friday at Fenwick and plays a total of nine games between
Friday and Saturday. The proceedings start with a play-in game between
DeLaSalle and Mt Carmel, with the winner to face top-seed Fenwick on
Friday night. Other first round games include St Ignatius-St Viator,
Brother Rice-St Rita, and Loyola-St Patrick.
The semifinal round begins at 11:00am on Saturday and
wraps up with the title game at 4:30pm.

MSL Championship
(at Palatine)
The Mid-Suburban League decides their boys' title winner with the
championship game being played at 6:00pm at Palatine High School. The
Pirates play host to Wheeling, as the Wildcats went undefeated in the East
division to advance to the title game. Meanwhile, the hosts posted a 9-1
record in the West division and will be looking for their second straight
conference title after beating Buffalo Grove 15-7 in last year's event.
Palatine needed three overtimes to beat the Wildcats 8-7 back on March 24,
so the teams should be set for an intense battle for the conference title
on Wednesday.

Stevenson Tournament
The Patriots' host their annual coed event that features both boys' and
girls' teams from the same schools. Stevenson will be joined by
Lincoln-Way Central, Naperville Central, and Neuqua Valley on Saturday,
with the boys games starting at 8:50am with a Stevenson-NC matchup and
wrapping up with the final contest of the event at 5:10pm between the
hosts and Neuqua Valley.
Format: 4 teams, 6 games,
round-robin format
Vernon Hills Tournament
The Cougars welcome Conant, Latin, Libertyville, Lincoln-Way East, and
Lincoln-Way North for a six team event on Saturday.
The Romans won the event with three wins last year, beating Conant 16-4 in
the title game. LWE beat LWN for third place, while Libertyville beat the
hosts for fifth place in 2010.
Format: 6 teams, 9 games,

WSC Tournament (at York)
The West Suburban Conference combines both Varsity and JV games into their
event, with quarterfinal games on Thursday night that will setup Friday's
semifinal round. York earned the fourth-seed and will play Morton at
5:30pm, while the Hinsdale schools resume their rivalry with a 7:30pm
contest.
The winner of the first game will play top-seed Lyons at 5:30pm on Friday
and the Hinsdale game-winner will take on Oak Park at 7:30pm.
The WSC title will be decided at 12:00pm on Saturday.
