Tournament Report

The Week 8 tournament schedule
featured events at Conant, Latin, and Stevenson with a total of 22 teams in
action between Friday and Saturday. Here is a closer look at what happened
over the weekend:
Conant
Tournament
Neuqua Valley went 4-0 and
earned wins over the hosts and Buffalo Grove to win the Conant Tournament
over the weekend. The Wildcats also beat Lane and Libertyville to finish
the event with a perfect record.
Conant edged Buffalo Grove 7-4
in the other final round game to earn second place with a 3-1 mark, while
the Bison went 2-2 and took third place.
Latin Tournament
The Romans earned impressive wins over Curie, R-B, and STC North to win
their own event with a 3-0 record on Saturday. Latin beat Curie 12-7 in
the virtual title game to claim first place.
Curie beat STC North 12-7 to finish in second place, while the North Stars
defeated R-B by a 21-3 score to finish in third.
Stevenson Tournament
Fenwick held off Naperville Central 7-6 and outlasted Brother Rice 12-6 to
win the Stevenson Tournament on Saturday. Matt Farmer scored 10 times in
the four wins, including the game-winner against the Redhawks, to keep the
Friars perfect (27-0) in 2011. Fenwick also beat New Trier and Lyons in
the opening round on Friday night.
Naperville Central topped Brother Rice 15-13 in the weekend's final game
to finish in second place, while the Crusaders went 2-2 to end the
proceedings in the third spot.
Lyons ended the weekend with a 3-1 record, bouncing back from their loss
to Fenwick with wins over New Trier, Oak Park, and Palatine. The Pirates
earned fifth place by beating OPRF by an 8-6 score on Saturday.
New Trier outlasted Mundelein in 15-14 shootout and also beat the hosts to
finish in seventh place. The Mustangs beat their rivals Stevenson 13-9 to
end the weekend in eighth place.
