Tournament Previews

The tournament schedule this
weekend is lighter than normal as most teams gear up for conference tournaments
and the sectional playoffs in the following two weeks. However, there are a few
tournaments to keep an eye on this weekend. Here is a brief preview of what to
watch for:
Lane
Tournament
The Indians play host to Curie, Latin, New Trier, OPRF, Payton,
and Prospect in a
seven team, twelve-game event on Saturday.
Format: 7 teams, 12 games,
championship-round format
R-B Tournament
The Independent Tournament takes place at R-B this season, as #14 Bremen
and #24 Richards set out to claim a title that the Richards won last year.
The hosts and Shepard join the cast for this four team, six-game event.
Format: 4 teams, 6 games,
round-robin format
Rockford Tournament
Fenwick heads to Michigan to play in the Rockford Tournament over the
weekend, where they join a group that includes #10 Jenison and East Grand
Rapids. The Friars beat EGR by one goal two weeks ago, so they should have
their sights set on advancing to the first place group on Saturday. The
event also features #1 Okemos, #4 Rockford, #7 Hudsonville, #7 East
Kentwood, and #9 Pioneer, so Fenwick will have their work cut out for them
if they hope to win the event like they did in 2010.
Format: 9 teams, 18 games,
