Tournament Previews

The Week 8 tournament schedule
features events at Conant, Latin, and Stevenson with a total of 22 teams in
action between Friday and Saturday. Here is a closer look at what to look for
over the weekend:
Conant
Tournament
Lincoln-Way North will look to
defend their title in 2011 after they edged Neuqua Valley 12-11 in last
year's final game to win the Conant Tournament. They start out in a group
with Northside and Buffalo Grove on Saturday morning, while the rest of
the teams get things started on Friday.
The hosts are joined by St
Viator and Maine East and will play in the tournament opener against the
Lions at 4:30pm on Friday. The third group consists of last year's
runner-up Neuqua, Lane, and Libertyville.
The final round gets started on
Saturday at 12:10pm.

Format: 9 teams, 18 games,
championship bracket format
Latin Tournament
The Romans play host to Curie, R-B, and STC North for a six-game event
that takes place on Saturday in Chicago.
Format: 4 teams, 6 games,
round-robin format
Stevenson Tournament
The Patriots' host their annual event that features some of the top teams
in the state as they gear up for the postseason at the site of next
month's state tournament. #2 Lyons joins the cast to make the nine-team
event even more formidable, as their Friday night clash with #1 Fenwick
serves as the highlight to the preliminary round. The Friars and Lions are
joined by #19 New Trier in their opening-round group.
#3 Naperville Central is matched up with #13 Oak Park and #17 Mundelein in
the tournament's second group, which means the teams will get a chance for
a rematch after they all played at last week's Fenwick Tournament.
Mundelein upset NC 11-9, NC edged OPRF 14-13, and OPRF downed Mundelein
10-7 last Saturday.
The third group is loaded with #5 Brother Rice, #8 Palatine, and the
hosts. The tournament kicks off on Friday night at 4:30pm with a matchup
between the Patriots and Pirates, while the final round games begin on
Saturday at 10:30am.
