Boys
Tournament Previews

There is plenty of tournament
action this weekend, so let’s jump right in and take a look at what to expect
beginning Friday at 3:45pm and wrapping up at 9:00pm on Saturday night:
DeSmet
Tournament
Fenwick and Stagg both
travel down to the St Louis-area over the weekend to take part in the
DeSmet Tournament at the RecPlex Natatorium. The defending state champion
Friars play opening round games against #5 Lindbergh and #6 MICDS, while
the Chargers take on #2 DeSmet and #10 Lafayette on Friday. The results of
the first two games for each team will determine their placement in the
next round, while both teams are guaranteed five games at the event.
The other Missouri teams
participating include Chaminade, #4 Marquette, Oakville, Parkway North, #3
Parkway West, and #1 SLUH.

Format: 12 teams, 24 games,
championship-round format
Lyons Tournament
The LT Tournament starts with a bang on Friday as #3 St Ignatius takes on
#4 Lyons in the opening game. The two teams will be joined on their side
of the bracket by Stevenson. The other bracket is filled by Loyola, Oak
Park, and York as the teams will play two games before advancing to the
final round. The title game will take place at 12:20pm on Saturday.
Format: 6 teams, 9 games,
championship-round format
Naperville Tournament
The Best of the West event will be played at both Naperville Central and
Naperville North this year, with the championship round played exclusively
at North on Saturday afternoon. The nine-team field is split into thirds,
with NC competing with Hinsdale Central and Lincoln-Way Central;
Naperville North is joined by Glenbrook South and Lake Forest; the third
group contains Mundelein, Buffalo Grove, and Glenbrook North.
Format: 9 teams, 18 games,
championship bracket format
New Trier Tournament
The Trevians’ annual event takes place on Friday and Saturday, with each
team playing three games. The field includes the hosts, Fremd, Lockport,
and McHenry.
Format: 4 teams, 6 games,
round-robin format
Sandburg Tournament
The Eagles’ host an eight-team tournament over the weekend in Orland Park,
as they look to defend a title they have won for the past three years.
They will compete with Conant, Lane, and R-B in their half of the bracket,
while Andrew, Hinsdale South, Prospect, and STC North will duke it out on
the other side to determine the placings for the championship round. The
tournament title game will be played on Saturday at 7:00pm.
Format: 8 teams, 16 games,
