The Wolfpack’s annual tourney is loaded with top competition, as #3 Lyons, #4 H-F, #5 Ignatius, #7 Loyola, and #10 New Trier are all top ten teams that make up more than half of the field. Also attending are #15 Waubonsie Valley, #23 Marian and Glenbrook North, so every game should be closely contested this weekend at UIC. Here is a closer look at what to expect on each day of the tournament:

Friday Preview

The tournament kicks off at 4:30pm with a huge matchup that pits the fifth-ranked hosts against the defending champions. #4 H-F will look to avoid an upset when they face Devin Green and #23 Marian Catholic at 5:20pm. New Trier and GBN meet up in a Central Suburban League matchup at 6:10pm, while the next game between #7 Loyola and #15 Waubonsie could be one of  the closest contests of the tournament. The Wolfpack take on GBN at 7:50pm, while Loyola plays Marian in a matchup of Catholic League teams in the night's final game.

Saturday Preview

There are six more preliminary games on Saturday before the championship round, with Lyons and GBN getting things going at 8:00am in the day's first game. H-F takes on Waubonsie in the second game, while Lyons and New Trier do battle in game number three. The last three games of the first round include matchups between Waubonsie-Marian, St Ignatius-New Trier, and HF-Loyola.

The championship round begins at 1:00pm with the seventh place game and wraps up at 3:30pm with the title game.

Quick fact

The tournament has had a different winner over the past three years. Lyons won the event in 2010 as part of their undefeated championship season. St Ignatius won their own event in the previous year with a win over H-F, while Loyola won the tournament back in 2008.
