Tournament Report

The tournament schedule picked up this weekend, with five tournaments and 49
games taking place across the state of IL.
Here is a quick wrap-up of all
the action from the weekend:
Bremen
Tournament
The Bremen Tournament
started on Monday, with Bradley and Von Steuben both winning twice
to setup a rematch of last year's title game. On Saturday, Bradley
earned a 14-6 victory to win the event for the second straight year.
The hosts defeated Richards 14-10 to finish in third place.
Hersey/Elk Grove Tournament
Hoffman beat Maine East 8-2 in
the title game of the Hersey Tournament after earning wins over Andrew and
Elk Grove to win the Hersey Tournament on Saturday. Logan Gizel totaled 27
saves and the Hawks' defense allowed only 7 shots in the title game win
over the Blue Demons. Sang M Han scored 4 times in the title game win,
while Mike Christen and Sang W Han both scored 2 goals for head coach
Chris Fetterman's squad. In Hoffman's 9-3 victory over Andrew, Christen
scored 4 goals and Sang M Han totaled 2 scores to get the Hawks into the
title game. Gizel also earned a shutout in Hoffman's 18-0 win over Elk
Grove.
Naperville North
Tournament
Erik Niemeier scored 6 goals in a title game win over Stagg and also
helped the Eagles beat Naperville North and STC North at the NN Tournament by
drawing a total of 17 ejections in the three-game set on Saturday. Stagg went
2-1 with wins over Schaumburg and Fremd, while the hosts beat the Saxons 13-12
in the third place game to end the day with a 2-1 mark.
St Charles North topped Fremd 14-12 in overtime in the fifth place game,
as Justin Jacobson and Kyle Passini both scored 4 times in the first win of the
day for the North Stars. Passini scored 11 goals in the tournament to lead STC
North.
St Patrick
Tournament
Homewood-Flossmoor beat Brother Rice 7-6 and downed Loyola 9-4 on Saturday
to claim the St Patrick Tourney title. Shay Banton totaled 13 goals and
was named the official tournament MVP for his efforts in leading the
Vikings to a 4-0 record. Luke Dobben also scored 20 goals and Jacob Bodnar
allowed an average of less than four goals per game over the weekend.
Brother Rice finished in second place after outlasting Loyola 4-3 in
overtime in the night's final game. Kyle Pikula and Mike Mulcrone combined
to score 18 goals as the Crusaders finished the tournament with a 3-1
record.
The Ramblers had to settle for a third place finish after their narrow
loss to Rice at the end of the day. Robbie O'Connor stood out for Loyola,
as he allowed just five goals per game.
Young finished in fourth place with a 3-1 mark after beating Loyola,
Libertyville, and Waubonsie on Saturday. Seth Hughes scored 13 goals and
Edgar Lopez added 10 scores for the Dolphins in the four-game event.
