Boys
& Girls Tournament Report

There were only two tournaments this weekend, but there is plenty to talk about
after the results came in from the Friday and Saturday games. Here is a quick
recap
:
Brother Rice
Tournament
The Crusaders won
their own event, beating Lockport, Loyola, Sandburg in the
preliminary round and downing MCAC rival St Patrick 10-6 in the
tournament final. The Shamrocks had gone 3-0 in the preliminary
round themselves, beating HC, St Rita, and York to get to the final
game and end up in second place.

Loyola earned a key 9-8
win over Sandburg late in the day on Saturday, which moved them into
the third place game. They beat St Rita 9-6 (including a shootout) to claim a third place
finish and end the weekend with a 3-1 record. The Mustangs finished
in fourth place after earning two wins on Saturday.

Sandburg bounced back from
their narrow loss to Loyola by beating Hinsdale Central 18-7 in the fifth
place game. The Eagles ended the weekend with a 2-2 record, while
the Red Devils finished with a 1-3 mark.

Lockport earned their
first win in four tries over the weekend by knocking off York 10-5
in the seventh place game. The Dukes went 0-4 at the tournament.
Lincoln-Way Tournament
The Lincoln-Way
Tournament, using a bracket format, which led to some intense
matchups throughout the Friday and Saturday tournament.
The host Griffins earned a
10-3 win over LWN to start things off, followed by Andrew's big 16-1
victory over R-B. When the two teams met later in the night, East's
Julie Warren scored 4 goals to lead the Griffins to the title game
with a 13-7 win over the T-Bolts.
At the West pool, LWW
surprised LWC 18-16 Friday to advance to the
semifinal round. In the next game, Richards outlasted Schaumburg 10-9 in
overtime. Richards advanced to the title game by beating West 14-8 later
in the night.

LWE claimed the tournament
title, edging Richards 10-7 in the final game on Saturday evening. Andrew
held off LWW 11-10 to finish in third place. LWN upended Schaumburg 9-6 to
claim fifth place, while LWC earned their first win of the weekend,
beating R-B 15-4 in the seventh place game.
